At the end of the day we kept a clean sheet against one of the best RS sides of recent times. Yes, Salah was missing but they're still a top side who've got one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Said it earlier, the RS made 5 changes from the side that beat Man City, and 2 of those 5 were their best players.

Also "At the end of the day we kept a clean sheet against one of the best RS sides of recent times." lol

  • Everton boss Sam Allardyce registered his 50th goalless draw in the Premier League - the third highest total, behind Harry Redknapp's 64 and Arsene Wenger's 62.

To be fair that's just sheer number of games and the law of averages, as clearly Wenger's not known as a goalless draw merchant.

There's even an argument in that stat to say Sam has an unfair rep of bring a goalless draw merchant, as he's as-per-ratio roughly on par with Redknapp & Wenger.

To be fair, that probably speaks more of his longevity as a top flight manager rather than his lack of tactical nous.

Arsene could hardly be called a negative manager and whatever else about him, Arry always tried to attack.

I wonder how many EPL scoreless draws are on Ferguson’s record.

Less than 50

I note that after 33 games we have 41 points; exactly the same accumulation as we had at the same stage in Bobby's 2nd and 3rd year.

Truly, this club is making giant steps forward

NSNO

This is the first time in 6 seasons we have not beaten at least one of the top 6 so you can argue the decline is even further, its been an absolutely soul destroying season the depths we have sunk to with performances and players is amongst the worst in 20 years.

Just being foreign doesn't make you a good coach. You get good ones and bad ones. De Boer was mentioned as being awful but he was sacked after 4 games which is hardly a fair crack and he was trying to change a style of play that was suited to Pulis, Warnock and Allardyce who managed them (and therefore Hodgson was better suited). Swansea were relegation certs under Clement (another very defensive English manager) until Carvahal came in and really turned the team around.

Dyche and Hughton are decent managers but their football is very basic and negative - Hodgson, Pulis, Allardyce etc are the same. The league has been woeful this season outside the top 6 and Burnley have took advantage despite going 3 months without a win recently they were still 7th. Everton of course gifted them their first win to get back on track with Sam's tactics.

Eddie Howe is a novelty as an English manager who actually tries to play football. He's done an unbelievable job at Bournemouth given they were bottom of the 4th division when he took over.
Wouldn’t agree that Hodgson football is basic and negative - has done fabulous jobs over the years at home and abroad and is respected among UEFA and FIFA technical circles. He managed Inter in the Serie A glory years and had Switzerland Third in FIFA rankings!

Failed in his only big job in a league that actually matters. He single handedly made us derby favourites for the only time in my lifetime.

Serie A is no mark central.

yeh all those foreigners getting in the way of young british talent like joe cole who's better than messi and deffo would've won us the world cup if he was allowed to flower i mean what have silva or hazard even brought to the game nowt really when you think about it
It is not players like Silva and Hazard or going back further, Zola and Bergkamp who are the problem, so your answer is disingenuous. The league is now full of mediocre EU and Foreign players. The old three foreigners rule struck a good balance. Note how in Spain the clubs protect domestic players, with many teams having self-imposed quotas
