is anyone seriously won over by today? Delighted by the result but we rode our luck. Klopp's hilarious team selection and mane's even more hilarious 'finishing' was the reason we weren't annihilated.

If our plan was to park the bus and break, it was implemented terribly. The defence were a total shambles at times and we did nothing in attack. The penalty was fortuitous in the extreme. Had we scored from a set-piece of a break I'd give Sam more credit.

Today was everything I feared we'd be under big Sam. I'm buoyed by the result but a million miles from being a fan of this appointment.

..he only had those tools to work with.

Take last season where we had better quality on the break but totally failed to nullify their main threat by not playing deep enough. Koeman was tactically dreadful, Allardyce got a point with a poorer team. We all know we lack quality but it was the way the team set up that got us something.

I don’t think Allardyce was being particularly clever, he just set his team up in the best way he could.

The result was 1-1 and a point.

You may have free flowing football and end up losing 3-0. What matters is only the result.

Come on mate, we are low on confidence and have no real shape at the moment and it's hard to know who to blame for the mess, so I won't. Fact is that Sam has clearly got us more organised and I would never argue that we were second best today, but to claim the pen as lucky is to mark you as a Samoaner, you need some perspective friend.

Big Sam and Little Sam walking out of Klanfield. Job done.lol

He aint gonna change now, that's for sure.

I've always thought he's a pretty loathsome character. Whats interesting with him, is you do see another side to him when he manages you. You have these moments where you are almost ashamed at his brash chip on the shoulder. There are also moments though, where he is very articulate, thoughtful and confident. Compared to a Moyes team today I never thought we'd bottle it and I don't think Allardyce thought we would either.

Probably whats stopped him stepping up has been him struggling to prevent himself crossing the line between confidence and arrogance.

Glad we did. Said at the time, he will prove some folk wrong relating to the popular opinion about him. He knows what he is doing, instead of being wedded to some idealistic nonsense.

For the first time in ages, that side looked drilled, organised, and together.

Ok mate if you think this is football we’re playing under him.

I think his media perception too.
Aside from Dyche he's the best option for England still if they want to appoint an Englishman.

..can’t say I noticed that. I thought Martina’s head had truly gone and Salah was going past him at will. There was one 50/50 late on where the player just went through Martina. I have to agree with others who say one of the youngsters couldn’t have done any worst.

He showed some nice touches Martina, and before the goal I thought he was doing ok winning some headers. He's ok in possession, but Milner cleaning him out was a bit embaressing for the lad. I don't think he massively wants to be here.

We have Galloway on loan. I appreciate he's had 2 poor loan spells and normally I'd agree with people saying he'll never make it. But I've seen with my own two eyes with him in the first team he'd be a far more secure option at left back than Martina.
