No i think there will be as much discontent as ther eis at the moment, as i say some will just never like him and that is fair enough those people wont be for changing, but the significant cohort of fans would be conent if Everton are doing well and being competitive and their was something that could be achieved in my opinion. There are many in the thread that are seeing some green shoots and weighing up the context who arent indisposed to him staying another year given the context. That the way i see it. Of course it works the other way around, if he is not doing well he has little collateral with the fan base to foster good will. Its more of a fluid then a rigid thing for me.

Ultimately though i look at three things that need to happen for a changing manager, they have to loose the fans, they have to loose the players (results), they have to loose the board, that ebbs and flows at anyone time and are of course often linked. Im not so sure he has lost the board, i suspect not and im pretty certain he definitely hasn't lost the players, it looks a happy ship at the moment. Fans opinions are currently at extreme ends of being grateful for the job he has done or dislike no matter what, so im not sure he has lost the whole fan base, its definitely conflicted and likely to remain so.

The interesting thing about this situation,is the feeling of chaos with Sam seems to come from the fans in terms of being at the club it looks as if he has brought some stability to the club both from a playing and non playing perspective. Its pretty clear we arent the same basket case we were when he took over.
He’s lost the fans, the players are playing for a World Cup and as for the board... dunno but I’m guessing Kenwright will want him out

Dont think he has lost all the fans mate, even this thread is a mixed bag. He definitely hasnt lost the players in my opinion in fact the opposite, the board im not so sure on, hes given them a decision, i suspect he hasnt lost them if im honest, a lot of that is speculation of course.

The reasons why he could see out his contract

1 It would save about 9m pay off of him and his backroom staff , we can't keep paying managers off.
2 He's brought in 2 good players already
3 He's done a good job having us around 6th place since he's been here, we conceded about 30 goals in the previous 10 games.
4 He's said he's going to trim the squad down,
5 He said the squad is too big and there are players holding the youngsters back, expect him to offload a few senior players
6 He said the players he brings in will be better than we have now so will be straight in the team, i'm taking that as no more signing youngsters, we have enough in the squad.
7 The players are publicly saying they are improving with him as the manager.

With all that in place why can't BS have us playing better football with HIS team and why can't we break the top 6 ?

Because he has nevet ever in his 20 years played nice football

The other thing i think is that fans cant identify with any of our players, there are very players like a Cahill, Arteta, Ferguson etc that fans can call a hero or really relate to. Some clever recruitment and the bringing in of good players changes that in my opinion and the association improves Sams popularity, all it takes is one signing like a Payet (not saying we should sign him), to change some of the above. Walcott and Tosun are proving a case in point.

If the players are happy it's because he doesn't push them to do anything more complex than construct a chance per game and maybe take it.

The fans (and they are the majority I'd suggest) are never going to be persuaded by Allardyce even if the owner and players do, and a house divided will always fall.

To all the football pundits having a pop at the Everton fans for not fawning over BFS, I would just like to say that I am damn sure my match day experience is totally different to yours.

Me:

  • Season ticket holder attending every home match (best part of £600 spent)

  • Has to leave 2½ prior to kick off to get to the match on time (now £2 each way on the new toll bridge)

  • Find a parking space (usually up to £10 depending how late I am and how close I can get to the ground).

  • If hungry, eat a pie that could give you 3rd degree burns

  • Sit through 90 minutes of absolutely dire [Poor language removed], with no attempts made to attack and next to nothing to cheer about.

  • Make my way home, angry, upset and swearing to myself that that’s it, I’m not putting myself through this again.

Pundits:

  • Attends the odd match throughout the season (free of charge) or watch from the comfort of your studio

  • Either chauffeur driven to ground or arrive to find parking space reserved for you directly outside the ground.

  • Partake of clubs hospitality before, during and after the game (all on expenses of course)

  • All expenses paid night in hotel/ chauffeur home or straight out to your car waiting directly outside the ground.

Bit of a contrast here wouldn’t you say?

NO WONDER WHY YOU DON’T GET WHY WE’VE HAD ENOUGH!

Do you think our Europa league group opponents had superior squads to us?

Europe was just a disaster really. But It’s pointless comparing because Sam hasn’t played any matches in Europe. The one match he had, Shakespeare was in charge and we played completely different to any match sam has been in charge of.

I wouldn't say so mate. Thats a bit tin foil hat for me. lol

Quite possibly, its an interesting dynamic in fairness. I think the club listened to the fans and on Koeman and Martinez im not sure that is the right approach really. In many ways the club need to put down a boundary, politically of course.

Ultimately we may as well have stuck with Martinez, the journey from Martinez to Koeman to Sam, has been a massive waste of time and resources. But if he does go, here we are again another impulsive shot in the dark and all we have seen what goes with it. Its all very poor timing in my opinion and wouldn't leave me with great confidence in those running the club.

group formats thrive under structure, allardyce despite his faults can give that structure, it's how he has survived, the next step it to allow for individualism without the structure falling apart, martinez failed with this, allardyce doesn't even try, koeman looked to be getting there last season, but I'm fairly certain it was just barkley and lukaku making him look good

He said this and he's said that, he will say whatever it takes to keep the best job and the best salary he's ever had.

He's a dead man walking and he knows it..
