I remember a brief moment where Allardyce nearly won me over. It was 10 December, post-match interview, and he was on it - laughed at the Kopites moaning, talked about how well his side did, kept his own self-promotion to a minimum.

The last two parts was quite literally all he had to do to be a success here.

People would have begrudgingly coped with the negative football until at least the end of the season, because they would have understood how bad we were before he arrived. The results have been solid if unspectacular. There's nothing on paper he couldn't have gotten away with and he'd be going into the summer without talk of him being sacked at all, nevermind mass fan protests.

But the fact remains that the man is an utter bell. That's what has got at Everton fans. The negative football will remain next season, because that's what he does and he's incapable of learning and adapting. His attitude will remain the same. Everything will remain the same.

If he's here, will we do well next season? Yeah, probably. 7th or so again. But will Evertonians feel that's a price worth paying for the sacrifice of this oaf being in charge? Absolutely not.

He is a capable manager of a certain way of football - but, and as cringey as this sounds it's still completely true, it's not the Everton way, and his position here is untenable as a result.

He has been his own worst enemy here.

With the stadium development, which I think will move at a faster pace this year and next, I don't think Moshiri will want to be looking over his own shoulder worrying about what is happening on the pitch i.e a relegation battle. That is why I think Allardyce will see out his contract. Going to the home games has become less and less enjoyable this season, a bit of a chore in fact even with the drive/train there and back. The West Ham game has been the only highlight for me this season. I'm resigned for much of the same next season, if, but I feel when it is confirmed Allardyce is staying.
I too fear that Moshiri will take this stance, and he is going to sacrifice progress on the field for what he thinks is stability while the stadium moves on. I don't think he has the balls to give Sam the heave ho yet even in the face of fan's disapproval. Everyone who thinks that Sam is a cert to go needs to consider this as a possibility. I sincerely hope that it doesn't but then again I have zero faith in the board to make sensible decisions for the future of our club. It is very scary!!

At Notts County he blamed the players for being relegated for not “listening to his instructions”, enduring an 18 game run of not winning.

Even now, 23 years later, he’s still blames others rather than look at himself. He’s a self centred, egotistical plum who has visions well above his abilities

He’s a dire manager and needs to be booted immediately

I think the intellectual section of our fans are seeing that this is going to be a good appointment.

Martinez in 143 games averaged 1.56 points per game.

According to the usually reliable Transfermrkt website Sam, in 24 games, is averaging 1.50 points per game, with a squad he didn't build, in a relegation battle when he took over.

I'm 100% behind him for next year and expect him to rebuild his career with us for many years to come.

Crikey.

Martinez MKII then.

Strange how most members who have joined the site in the last couple of months all seem to be Fat Sam supporters.

So he’s even worse than Martinez? Out.

Fair enough :coffee:
What do you think about Stevie G going to Rangers?

Me too mate. He had a few pressers around that time that were of the same vein. Always bigging up the club and how much of a privilege it was to manage us. There was one in particular when he was asked about the improvement in the defence and he said something like "they're all good defenders, I see them daily in training and I'm as mystified as you are as to why they were conceding so many goals before I came". Maybe it was tongue in cheek but it looked/sounded genuine and fit in with other things he was saying.

But then he started tinkering with the side, results started going against us, and the real Sam Allardyce came to the fore.

I'm with you Tubes. I reckon that the majority of the fans probably would have accepted the turgid football more readily had he not been such a self serving prat in his pressers.
