Barney....no Silva, please.

And far from having a “bloody good go” at keeping them up, he totally tanked in the last six matches when they were looking more likely to stay up than go down.

Now....I would rather have him than Sam, don’t worry ‘bout that.

But that is more to do with what I feel about Sam than what I feel about Silva.

And as for worrying about a “bigger club” coming a’ calling for him?

Well Arsenal are looking for a manager.....probably Chelsea as well.

I wonder if he is in the frame for those jobs
Don't get me wrong Khal, he's far from my first choice for the job either. I'm just not understanding the "we'll be relegated with Silva" shouts. Also, if we hadn't turned his head, I wouldn't have been in the slightest surprised had Watford finished in 7th this season and then the media would have at least been speaking about him for the Arsenal job. FFS people like Rogers and Arteta have been touted.

I wouldn't exactly say Hull tanked their final 6 games either mate. They lost their last 3. The first of those against Sunderland was probably the nail in the coffin. A game they absolutely dominated, missing a host of very good chances, with Sunderland getting a sucker punch in the last minute. The following game against Palace was a must win game which they went for, but got picked off on the counter. The last game they were already relegated. Here's a list of points gained by the 13 teams below Everton after Silva was appointed. 19 games so exactly half the season.

Swansea 29
Palace 25
Leicester 24
Stoke 23
West Ham 23
Bournemouth 22
Southampton 22
HULL 21
West Brom 19
Watford 18
Burnley 17
Sunderland 10
Middlesbrough 10

Up until those final 3 games, Hulls performance had probably been the second best after Swansea. Silva took over a near impossible situation. His record with a very poor squad (arguably only Sunderland's was worse) was decent at worst, and along the way he had some very good results against the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd, as well as taking United all the way in the League cup semi.

As I say, he's far from first choice but I just don't get what everyone is basing their negativity towards him on.

Sorry to dig this up. I trawled backwards on this thread to see who these 3 managers are. I can't find their names. Did they inherit crap squads like Sam has, or did they inherit strong squads and thus achieved top 6 without previous PL experience? Just curious that's all..
Jose
Conte
Pep

They won the league and I’m sure there’s others
But top 6 would do for next season

I think the negativity comes from how quickly Watford went downhill when his head was turned and people get nervous he would do the same thing if a little success with us led to media speculation on another job.

Really would love a manager that we felt blessed to have joined. Has that ever happened? Certainly not in the Prem.

Yeah becuase it Hull, of ciurse it was the best they have seen, but since when has Everton aspired to play as goid as Hull ? Chances are it was worse then we have seen at Goodison recently
Come on mate Hull were an awful team. Arguably only Sunderland's squad was worse that season. the fact he got them playing any sort of decent football is a feat in itself.

I would say that a lot of the football we have served up this year, despite having a far superior squad, is of a lower quality. Just my opinion of course.

The fear for me with him is that he wasn’t able to pick his Watford side up from a low point after our approach. It would’ve shown much more character were he able to turn it around and get them performing again.

Were it the case that the players gave up on him because they sensed he didn’t want to be there, then that’s pretty unprofessional

OK I get that. But if that happens it's because he is doing very well with us.

Let's put that into perspective, there are probably 6 clubs in this country and a similar amount from around Europe who could turn his head if he was our manager. Are we going to turn down a manager because we're frightened one of the big boys will come along if he does well.? Ask yourself that question and it sounds quite ridiculous doesn't it.?

So you watched all hull’s games under silva then? And we shouldn’t aspire to Hull, but it’s ok to aspire to wolves.

Ok we will never know what would have happened at Watford, had we not appoched silva. But going off the start he made. They would have comfortably stayed in the league. And his Watford team played much better football than our current team. With a much cheaper group of players.

Silva like I’ve said wouldn’t be my 1st 2nd or 3rd choice. But if the choice is silva or Sam. I would take silva everyday.

We're better then Hull now, better then they have ever been, so no, we shouldnt aspire to play as well as Hull.

Your right about Watford but your also speculating on what might of happened, but what did happen was he showed how mentally weak he is, just look at the abuse Sam takes and he isnt fazed in the slightest, but SIlva goes week at the knees and cant cope, this is a hard league and Silva isnt even close to being cut out for it, as two clubs have found out, lets not be the third

Well what if we decide to stand our ground like Watford did and then their season went to crap? I think it's a legit concern.

Your right, but how does getting Hull playing well equate to being good enough for Everton? Weve gone from a manager who got Wigan playing well, to Southampton to Hull, and we wonder why we cant compete with the top 6 and win nothing
