Move our centre backs twenty yards further forwards and you will see exactly how much they have been improved by the new manager mate, my guess is that is exactly why you are not seeing them further forwards.

I agree, I don’t think Sam has sorted out the defence he’s just gave up any sort of attacking and got the whole team playing defensively camped in our box hoping to pinch games.

I agree with lots that you say, yes the football is crap but if we cant string 3 passes together what other options do we have at the moment?

How would you set up against them in the cup?

Keep it tight and hope to get them back for a replay?

Keep it tight and hope to nick a 1-0?

Try and take the game to them?

I havent got the answer, i'd like nothing more to go and have a go next week, i just don't think we have the personel to that at the moment.

In fact i dont think we have the personel to go out and take the game to anybody right now.

Just my opinion.

Absolutely zero point playing to get a replay, as we showed against Chelsea we would set up exactly the same way and with the same intent at home or away to any big side.

I think we have got players to pass it around though and retain possession. We seen a clear change in players like Jags the moment Martinez walked through the door, these are just playing to instructions now.

Don’t lose the ball in your own half being an instruction that’s followed Sam throughout his career, hence why all we do is lump it.

There’s a balance to be found if he wants to stay here but his 25 year career tells me he won’t change.

You think allardayce can and does play any other way? lol behave he’s a stop gap and that’s it. If anyone even thinks he should be here longer than he needs to ( end of season ) you can kiss goodbye to anything ever again

Spot on mate, hopefully he doesn't buy utter dross and believes he has a long term chance here, so buys decently not for short term. Then come summer we bin him off and go for someone who can actually build and progress a side

Yes I do, he’s never evolved. All the striker will do is hold up play while a couple of midfielders get up in support.

His entire philosophy is to lump it forward and pick up second balls. He’s done it for 20 years
Is there really anything wrong with that though? Basically.defend first and football after?

Mourinho coming would have had the.majority of our fan base with their pants down, yet he plays the exact same football as big sam.

and fair play, result wise it has worked for what he wanted, but it required a seasons worth of luck over those 6 games as well.

IF he has any ambition to change the way we are playing, then Jan 1st a new left back and a new cb walk through the doors, my guess is they won't

In most cases, you create your own luck.

The reality is that before Sam, we couldn't string a pass together anyway, we weren't having shots on target, the possession stats were likely very similar - difference is we aren't conceding 2-5 goals a game anymore.

People must be disillusioned if you think we've played well in even any 1 single game since the start of this season under Koemans tenure.

Yes.
He has had sides that play in a variety of styles. The one common theme though has been that they have been defensively sound, as he is making us currently. If you haven't seen that
Bolton played many different styles. Direct to Davies. Excellent passing game through Okocha, Djorkaeff, Speed, Hierro, Campo. Through balls for Anelka.
Palace, he played with width getting crosses in.
Sunderland he played quick through balls for Defoe and Borini to run on to.
West Ham - direct to Carroll. Direct or through balls to Sakho and Valencia.

I don't think he should be here very long either. I would like a younger manager (not wet behind the ears like some want though) who has the drive of a younger person.
But, if Allardyce meets his targets this season, which he is well on course to do so, then why shouldn't he be given a shot at whatever comes next? If you hit all your targets in work, and your gaffer said he was replacing you, you'd be pretty pissed off wouldn't you?

There’s a lot wrong with it. You’re literally inviting constant pressure, if the striker is getting man handled or is having off day the ball is back at you instantly.

There’s only so much luck in the world, and Sam as had a fair chunk of that already. The RS, Chelsea and West Brom should have been well ahead before we even had a sniff

Mourinho does kill games dead, I’ll agree. But they’re the big games, he would certainly not go to West Brom with the intention of getting a draw and parking the bus

He'll make a few attacking changes, Vlasic and Lookman probably, and their second side will ease past us. This will play into his hands as he won't have to worry about inconvenient cup games and change the narrative back onto how we needed salvation. In addition the half arsed attempt at attacking play will in his eyes prove that we need to play with 9 behind the ball with the squad we have.

I have a feeling it'll unravel by March and come May we'll both part ways very happy with things.

С годовщиной anyway comrade.

We’ve played the lowest scoring teams in the league, a RS team if Mane wouldn’t have been a tit would have been out of sight before we managed an attack, and a Chelsea team that did everything but score

Not to mention the chances the geordie biffs had and rondon missing sitters the other night

In general our play has been in the toilet ever since Coleman bust his leg mate

Disagree with the luck thing though mate, Williams hitting his own bar wasn't created it was just fortunate, same as Mane not squaring a ball, refs giving us 3-4 50-/50 pens and the Barcodes hitting the woodwork twice, never mind Rondon falling over when through the other day. That is some string of luck we have had recently

Expect you are right mate, as for the timing of the unravel, 31st March we play City at Goodison - following weekend we play the return Derby at Goodison, you have your date right there for when reality dawns on a lot of people. Then again United home, rs away in the cup and then spurs away from the 1st - 13th of Jan may be a painful time for BFS fanboys.

and Cheers mate, 4 years went fast :) will pass it on to the missus :)

The Bolton one is years old. The leagues changed now. Trying to defend all the time to nick something isn’t and won’t achieve anything other than staying up. Sam allardayce can’t and won’t move us beyond that platform. I pray come summer it’s thankyou Sam but we need to move on to go up and give him his fat greedy pay of.

I can bet that after the games coming up fans opinions will start to shift and also blame the players and not sams pub football tactics. Sam has to go come summer it’s simple as that.
