I do recall we where near the bottom of the league and didn't look like we could improve. We where in the sh1t so had to get someone to stop the slide. We did with someone who was offered a short term contract to do exactly what he is doing. Now we are expecting Barcelona football with the very same team when the previous managers failed.

I recall us being 13th and 5 points off the relegation zone

But good one, sam will ace us playing football just likes he’s done at every other club he’s been at lol

I don’t see people here accepting mediocrity. It’s just being realistic about the level we’ve fallen too and the appreciation that it’ll never change over-night (over-night currently lasting approx 30 yrs).

Better to be realistic about where we are and what we need to do to get back to the top. (Starts at board level, not the current manager)

Some comments just make it sound like we have an “entitlement” because we were once great.

Nope, I think it's more that after two years, £200m spent and two managers sacked (plus Unsworth demoted again), people think it's a bit of a joke for people to be 'realistic' about how good a 30% win ratio manager is doing.

We haven't been great since the mid eighties mate, most of us know and accept this.

I wholeheartedly agree with your point about the board though.

Nothing will change whilst Kenwright et al have anything to do with the club.

Some of us patient ones are willing to see how he does. Give it a try...might chill you out a little.
If he doesn't do well then he will be gone at the end of the season and if he does do well we will have a very upset 'nsno-chris'

I do agree in part, but more specifically that’s £200m wasted on building an unbalanced squad. All as a result either directly or indirectly of the board, not our current manager.

SA’s tactics tonight very nearly worked. Just because an approach to the game is pragmatic does not make him a poor manager. What was Koemans win ratio with this identical squad this season? More than 30%? I doubt it!?

7 wins from 18 games mate. 39%.

With Allardyce we win less games, the football is terrible, we now have Sammy Lee as our assistant manager, I dunno man. Not much to be positive about.

I really don't think sacking every single manager we have until we win a trophy is going to turn us into Barcelona. It sure hasn't helped Swansea. Or Watford that much, either. Or Leeds.

It’s helped Chelsea and United though, they won’t let anyone rest on there laurels.

It certainly helped Leicester, they were widely criticised for sacking there manager and won the league the next year whilst Watford are in the best position they’ve been for 25 years plus.

As far as I can see Sam isn’t even a proper appointment by the board. They wanted him until the summer, he wouldn’t sign so after trying every other avenue they panicked and gave him the minimum he’d accept.

I think the plan has always been to sack him in May, the contract is the amount they’re happy to pay him to go.

3 wins in 8 for Unsworth (including Norwich) with brutal away games: GET OUT NOW BOOOOOOOOOOOO NEW BOSS NOW FARHAD
3 wins in 10 for Allardyce (away games at WBA, Bournemouth, Newcastle): 'Need to be patient'

So 'Unsy' should've been given the job?
:p

I have patience, what do I not accept is a championship rate, hoof ball manager.

But plucky little Everton eh???

Patience!!! he has been here 5 minutes got us up to 9th. Sod the hoofball for a moment and lets just get back on track and go from there. We played garbage under Koeman and Unsworth and yes they probably had more shots on goal than Alladyce but look at the shots against and goals against under alladyce in comparison. Do you want points or to get thrashed game after game.

I think, fairly definitively, the answer is 'not Allardyce'.

Well he is here now until at least the end of the season. I didn't want him but we have him now so I will wish him well and hope he gets another 3 points which will equal the total of Unsworth and Koeman put together and go from there.

Don’t want to argue your stats, but he’s won 4 in 10

Huddersfield.
Apollon
Newcastle
Swansea

So 40% win ratio?...
