Some are so judgemental, we are not going to be playing champaigne attacking football with our awful attacking players.

Give him a few weeks after we actually have a capable striker (hopefully Tosun) instead of marching round the forum with Sams head on stick because we have just lost at Anfield where we have not won in 18 years or whatever.

Im one of the biggest moaners on this forum but I’m not stupid and ignorant as to the position we found ourselves in, he’s steadied the ship and I feel comfortable with him here for now, NO reputable manager worth his salt wants to be here, not with this awful squad.

He's 63 years old, he's not a new coach. His record in the Premier League is average, he's never won anything and yet you think he's the answer when all of the available evidence says he isn't. This is putting aside the type of football he plays and let's just say his ethics. Say goodbye at the end of the season and wish him well.
Regardless of how he gets on in the interim, and who the other candidates are? And so what’s if he’s 63, and never won anything. Unless you’re managing a top 4 side you won’t, unless it’s a fluke cup win, which as we know means jack.

Hats off to him for getting us to put in what I think is the best performance at Anfield for a long, long time.

We actually went at them and truly matched them, and were unlucky to not get a replay out of it.

Reckon that would have happened if Salah and Coutinho played? Means nothing anyway, we still lost and that's four games without a win.

Indeed.

That was far from the worst Everton performance at Anfield this century.

I hope Sam learns a lesson from it.

Constantly sitting back in games only invites extra pressure on your team and generally speaking, that pressure eventually tells.

I think it was @ToffeeTim said that attacking teams is also a way of defending against them.

Of course it is......many a military genius operated on the principle that the best form of defence is attack.

Obviously we are not geared for all out attack over ninety minutes but as we showed for a twenty minute spell versus United and in patches last night, we are more than capable of getting on the front foot and landing a few blows if our own.

Why would you wish him well when he'll be walking away with a £6m pay off?

Sorry if that sounds bitter but that's effectively what's going to happen.

Some won't have that though.

But it's obvious our attack is unbalanced and toothless so any build up usually collapses when it get to crunch. Pep wouldn't even be able to get this side smashing goals in.

That counter attack summed it all up when a centre half made the assist for the goal by running the length of the field. He's now 1 assist away from Sigurdsson.

Pretty sure first thing he was told was get us safe regardless of performances and in that regards he is succeeding.
Anything above that this season is a bonus now we are out of the cup safety is our only goal.
If he’s going to be here next season then performance and position should be rightly criticised.

As a general rule successful clubs develop a style of play and appoint managers who are able work within that style and the squad they inherit. When you appoint a manager who doesn’t operate within your chosen method you are almost always faced with disruption to the squad and systems, which can often have a deleterious effect on the teams performance and position.
My argument with Allardyce is that his preferred style of play is limited and while it will give you mid table security it will never be good enough to trouble the top of the table which is where we , allegedly, aspire to be. This in turn means that any manager we appoint subsequently will be faced with the inherent need to adjust the squad with all the concurrent dangers of discontinuity and failure, and we end up back at square one.

Manchester City and Liverpool still to come to Goodison. Otherwise, there is very little to look forward too.

Unless you think that Everton v West Brom is a big match for us now.

So to achieve this we appoint a manager who has achieved nothing in his career.

The appointment of allardyce is a clear indication of lack of ambition. No other teams who are “hoping to crack the top 6” would make that appointment.

It’s a sign of pure desperation

Yes. Moshiri's Everton. A fanbase grateful for Sam Allardyce. Laughable
