Trouble is, a new manger may do exactly the same and stick to the "Older more Experienced" players

I'd hope we would cast the net out a bit wider to find a decent manager this time, but I don't know what I base that hope on.

So far it has been "Wigan won the cup and beat us on the way", "Koeman, I remember him from Euro 88" to "Ohh let's get that Macro Silva bloke, I saw Watford on match of the day....what he won't come and we've just been thrashed...who keeps teams up? Big Sam! Will he take £6m?"

Until Kenwright/Elstone/Walsh are removed we will always suffer this issue.

Where do you suggest casting the net out to then?

The three you mention there all have varying degrees of experience etc. Martinez had managed in the league, was young and progressive and won silverware. Koeman was an old school manager, more of a coach than a traditional manager who had managed all over Europe and had a bit of relative success in the English league and Silva is another young who is up and coming allegedly despite him not doing much over here he has done it elsewhere.

That's a pretty wide net to me. I dont think you could get more diverse managers than all those to be honest.

Any manager comes with risks.

They will get game time. Just not when every little mistake they'll make will more than likely cost us 3 points at the moment.

And even then he's got Holgate, Kenny, Davies, DCL playing pretty regular or in the squad to make a contribution.

We throw Vlasic and Lookman into that, that's 6 under 23 outfielders. No team does that.

And it won't "win" us anything. What it'll bring in is transfer money when they're sold if they're any good.
No offense, mate, but I think that line of thinking is naive. We have been woeful for the entire season. Our "seasoned pros" are maaasssively underperforming and making mistakes left right and center that cost us points. They are in, week in and week out.

But kids who show promise and class who need game time to progress to the next level are the ones are "most likely to cost us 3 points"? You're daming players who have barely played for us in favor of "professionals" who have shown that they are the ones "most likely to cost us 3 points".

Apart from Allardyce who came with a guarantee that we wouldn't get relegated.:coffee:

Sorry. couldn't help myself:)

I said "trust" not play. Of course in the 850 or so games he has managed you can name players 21 and younger who he has given playing time to.

You have to compare him to the average manager to get a meaningful comparison.

And if I did that with managers with similar numbers of games managed - Ferguson, Moyes, Redknapp, Wenger - you would see his record of playing and buying young players is bad.

So how do you know he doesn't trust them? Can you read his mind?

No mate. Don't compare him to Ferguson and Wenger, that's ridiculous. They have had two of the best academies in world football at their disposal and massive budgets to buy the best young players from abroad. His record of bringing through youngsters is no worse than Moyes', he stopped trusting youngsters in about 2011. And it's most certainly better than Redknapp's.

If he gets Bernat after getting Tosun and Walcott that's a team that should have all the ingredients to play decent football.

Only then we will see what Sam is made off. I think people will be pleasantly surprised.

Redknapp bought through Lampard, Ferdinand, Cole, Defoe, Carrick and took Bale into a superstar.

Moyes played Pickford, Ndong, Denayer and Januzaj as first choices last year all 22 or younger and gave 5 more debuts.

You're going back to the 90's for Redknapp there mate.

Ah alright then, Sam has given Holgate, Davies, Kenny and DCL key roles since he's come in at Everton. There you go. No worse.

Just admit that what you said about Allardyce never trusting young players in his entire career was hysterical rubbish that you'd heard somewhere else and took on board.

N'Dong also cost £10m and was 23.
