Saudi Arabia Premier league

Why didn't they just not use footage of him wearing the rainbow armband? It's almost like they are trolling people by doing this. Plenty of footage with him just wearing the PL one or standard UEFA ones for England.
That’s my thought. It looks so obvious that it seems like they are intentionally trying to wind people up.
The numerous spelling errors in the text doesn’t help matters like.

Hope the entire league folds, bunch of 🐀🐀

I don't understand the fear of this league being dominant in any way more than China's attempt was. Just look at the signings this Summer? Most of them are there for 1-2 years max pay day. Most teams in that league have no player we've heard of. The fees are eye-watering but it's just a few good players amongst of sea of turd.

They are definitely taking the P.

One of the owners who's involved with Newcastle said "for our greatness".

Honestly how can you justify getting money from them.

Football is not very popular in China.

It's probably the number one sport in Saudi and they will throw money galore at it as this is just part of a greater plan to create a better image of itself to the western world to help with its transistion away from the oil industry.

It could become big in Saudi Arabia.

I cant see anyone else really giving a toss about it.

Does that really matter?

Football can be popular or not popular to the locals but it's us lot they want. They'll show games on Sky but I can't say I want to watch one team of Benzema and a load of crap Saudi players.

I may be absolutely thick as pig poo. But if this is about Saudi starting to be less reliant on oil, since when would lobbing millions at old footballers for 4 teams no one would ever buy, or be allowed to, do that?

They are not arsed about anyone watching the games, it's just a massive PR stunt for them.

They have a few more decades of oil production left so they are targetting other industries to the region and using sport to improve its image to the world.

It wouldn't. People keep talking about Saudi's having unlimited money but don't think they have any realisation that their oil money is running out.

Just an expensive PR stunt for them, same with the boxing, F1 and the Golf for them.

Yeh and how do they get other industries to the region? Eyes on it. This PR stunt needs some longevity to attract these other industries. People aren't going to deeply invest over there if they see this experiment die in 2 years (which I expect it to).

Not sure they are improving their image, but yeah, you are correct. Massive investment in a global tech hub is being built.
