I can't speak for those fans personally, but maybe they wanted to stand outside the stadium and shout their support, like TRIFC fans did in Perth a few months ago when no fans were allowed inside the ground, or is pointing out your insane double standards "unbalanced propaganda"? :)
Aye, OK then!!

TRIFC fans turned up at a game in which no fans were allowed, and let off fireworks. In what way is that different from Celtic fans turning up at a game in which only home fans were allowed, apart from the fireworks thing obviously? :)
Pretty pathetic really that you are reduced to being an apologist for the scummy element of your teams support?
Though not surprising tbh.

To be fair to Postecoglou, his record with the teams he has managed is very good. But by god walking into the old firm goldfish bowl, is a different kettle of fish entirely. You either survive and thrive, or fall to pieces in that sort of environment. At Rangers and Celtic, a manager is pretty much expected to win every game. That is a brutal environment for anyone to operate in.

Although thats true there has to be a little realism too, the SPFL is such a poor standard and the size of club and spending advantage relative to the majority of the rest of the league so great that winning should be a formality.

You've heard of big fish in a small pond but for the majority of the last ten years that's exactly what it's been for Celtic. Their performance (or lack of) in Europe shows just how small a pond it has been.

I was happy to see a Scottish football thread on our Everton forum but unfortunately it seems the ugly sectarian side of the game up there gets brought up time and time again.
Thanks Preki for posting the photo of Raith Rovers ground that must’ve been some game, that’s what I was hoping for on a Scottish football thread.
So I’m going the leave you all alone to get on with it and I’ll look forward to getting back in my seat for the Southampton game.
Have a good one?
Don't go.
Just put the old firm numptys on ignore, then join in the discussion. We need more people to drown out the sectarianism and whataboutery and help make this thread about actual football

Which team in Scotland do you follow?

That time you feel compelled to reply, but still refuse point blank to answer the question. lol

Would it help if I make the question blue?

What sectarianism would that be?

Fans of opposing clubs will snipe at each other, it's how football culture works. If this was a mixed forum of Everton and Liverpool fans they would be arguing with each other, but no one would call it sectarianism.

Sectarianism tends to be people being against a religion, or sect. I accept Scotland is still a bit anti-Catholic, but some people label every footballing discussion as sectarian, which isn't correct.

I'm pretty sure no one has prevented Brian from posting his views on Scottish football. Perhaps if he, and others, posted more there would be less focus on any arguing between Celtic v TRIFC supporters, or sectarianism as some people have labelled it?

It's a pretty fair point, most of it ion here, from Rangers and Celtic fans is mainly football related. In fairness that goes for @laudo9 and @Cork Evertonian too, it's never really been any hint of secterianism from what I can see, just a footballing disagreement. We had one nutjob Rangers fan (who didn't support Everton either) a while ago accusing most of the forum of being IRA supporters but he got banned quite quickly and everyone just laughed at him.

There's some disagreement on here, but not really any different to United and City fans disagreeing, or how Everton and Liverpool fans might. I've seen nothing to suggest people dislike one another based on their supposed faith, which is how it should be.

I remember when Walter came down here and he said Liverpool was like Glasgow as a City and I do see that. It's a real goldfish bowl, and has a kind of unique parochialism (not like the little Englander thing) but that the matches that surround the teams in that city take on enormous significance that is just not replicated elsewhere. As you say you either thrive in that environment, or it destroys you. To be fair to both clubs, they've both had managers where both of the above was true. Rangers went through quite a few managers who were probably very decent, but just not the right cultural fit.

From the outside if looks like complacency has set in a bit at an organisational level at Celtic. It took Gerrard what 2-3 years to win his 1st trophy, and the immediacy of expecting to win every trophy, every season has become normalised but it can't last forever. He probably needs this season to get used to the league and systems. It's not like he's been given loads of money either is it? Whether he gets that time, I don't know.

Rangers are big favourites but the league is a long way from a foregone conclusion IMO. In general Celtics record against Rangers has been very good recently, and they could easily win 3-4 old firm games this season as they have in others. He just need to get started.
