He always looks angry when he scores. Didnt think it was a jibe at the fans

The fact he literally said straight away that it was purely frustration (without actually been asked about why he cupped his ears, btw - the question was just 'you didn't seem to know how to celebrate') says it all to me.

He said this yesterday mate

On celebration
"I was out for a year. That makes it [no goal since Jan 2017] sound a bit longer. I was a little bit disappointed with my last performance. Every time I score a goal I go a little bit mad.
"It was a frustrating time to be out and this season I've had a few niggles. The fitter I get the more chances I'm sure I'll get."

Thanks mate
I’d have been shocked had he come out and said anything less diplomatic! lollol

Small point....didnt cup his ears he stuck his fingers in them.
I took that as "I'm not listening to the beauts that have been slating me"
I'm sure Seamus knows its a small minority , some even wanted shut of him.

As you said not many games since his return and anyone that knows a wee bit about football realises he'll need time & games to get back up to speed.

Again....great to see him on the way back.

He's said exactly what it was. I posted it earlier in the thread, but here goes again:

"We were a little bit disappointed after the United game and it was important to put it right. I thought we controlled most of the game.

"I was out for a year. That makes it [no goal since Jan 2017] sound a bit longer. I was a little bit disappointed with my last performance. Every time I score a goal I go a little bit mad.

Coleman has had a massive injury. When he came back last year he came into a side that was geared ENTIRELY to defend. He also only played in runs of 3-4 games at a time as he continued his recovery from injury. By the time he got up to speed, the season was finishing and everyone wanted it over and done with.

This season he started fine. Not at his best but not bad. He played four games and in none of those games was he poor.

He then went away with Ireland and BROKE HIS FOOT.

He came back and relatively speaking did well against Zaha. He was drawn into a clumsy tackle for the pen but it has happened to better defenders than Seamus against Zaha.

He wasn't great at Utd, no. But he was once more up against one of the best wingers in the league and had no help from Walcott at all. And this is all while working his way back from injury.

So, we need to give it time. We need to learn and understand that the answer to a player's form not been at their best isn't to drop him, or that it means they're finished. Because it makes us look fools. Also, if people read quotes like I've posted above before making a sweeping judgement that the celebration was about one thing or the other (this isn't directed at you, i'm talking about our fanbase as a whole).

There's nothing wrong with criticism. I'm fully behind everybody's right to criticise, and you're probably right in that this could be one of his last seasons as being an automatic pick. But, let's just have some context, yeh? The guy has had a bad spate of injuries, and needs a run of games now in a settled side. Consistency is key.

I said last week that Coleman, since Jan 2017, has played just 18 games. That's now 19.

19 games in 20 months, split into runs of 4-6 at a time, is absolutely nothing.

We all knew what that celebration was about. As I said he's done it before to think anything else is naive to me. I've seen what he's said but he's hardly likely to say he was sticking it to the fans was he.

None of the first four games was he poor? He was the worst player on the pitch at Bournemouth. He couldn't pass 2 yards and simple balls to him were going under his feet and out for throw ins. He was terrible at Bournemouth and against Huddersfield he wasn't much better.

He looked better attacking wise today but since he's came back from his leg break apart from his first game against lesister he has been consistently below par for me.

This. It's poor from the players to repeatedly do this kind of thing, not defending the fact that some of our fans seem to love abusing our own players, but the players should be able to rise above it. Unfortunately it's just part and parcel of their job and they should just get on with it rather than having a go at the fans and adding to the negativity.
Players having a go back at the fans goes back a long time, I remember Martin Dobson scoring a cracker ( against
Newcastle I think) and running to a point near the halfway line were it was all standing, before the New Main Stand was built, and picking out a supporter whe regularly gave him stick, Martin glared and pointed at him, letting him know he knew who he was: And Dobbo was a pretty mild sort of fella.

Is it true he celebrated at the fans?

Shameful by Coleman if so, no player is above criticism if they are putting in awful performances like his against Utd.

Lad needs to keep his head down and do the talking on the pitch.

I understand what you are saying but are you also saying that Walcott had a poor game today? , I thought he was part of a good team performance.
I thought he was pretty poor mate tbh. He seems to flatter to decieve for me. I said when we first signed him he would be our best player at that point but we've moved up a level now. I think he often makes the wrong decision, misplaces passes or goes missing. When he's good he's very good but he frustrates me a lot
