2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Its just the same as Italian football back in the day with the main difference being the quality of the players we have.
No it’s not, not one bit.

Italian teams, during the height of their dominance, were defensively orchestrated to be able to kill a game off. They did not hoof the ball 80 yards and have no attacking football

in fact, why I’m debating with someone who thinks Sean Dyche could be our Diego Simeone.

Been posing this question for weeks, and have yet to receive an answer other than bleating about net spend with no context and without taking into account the quality of player other teams around us lost over the summer compared to us.
That's the answer though. You just don't like it. You want an Everton team who are 20th in the league for net spend playing front foot football. Everton are going to be in a new stadium next season in the PL with a new manager. You should stop being so angry about it.

Someone mad a great point before, with apologies I meant to quote it, about Everton finishing around the same points as Fulham last season but now we’re laying down to their superiority. Which is fair and probably taps into why the most aggrieved in this thread feel as they do. I’m a little more pragmatic, but doesn’t mean I’m right.

Would just be nice to see Everton the play front foot football Evertonians demand again, giving a Manager decent resources will help that. As much as anyone I’m not too comfy in accepting thirty odd percent possession at home to crumby teams even if I advocate for patience with Dyche right now. Fairs fair.
It isn’t just a question of playing front foot football anymore , it’s wanting to see us play any form of football at all .
Yesterday the only contribution we made to the idea of a competitive football match was to turn up on time.
There is a total absence of any concept of tactical nous.
We are witnessing football stripped of any aspirations, an ugly minimalist display of abject cowardice.
For £5m a season , I expect more from a manager, much more.

You see I find that assessment a wee bit severe and dramatic pal. Each to their own obvs.

No it’s not the answer. We finished 12th last season and haven’t weakened the squad at all in comparison to its peers. So I have still had no answer as to how we’ve gone from mid table to aiming for hopefully finishing above 3 teams if we’re lucky.

Do people honestly think that we should sack Dyche now for a progressive manager? Seems a weirdly risky move now considering his contract is up in the summer.

Look at Palace this season. Glasner was the flavour of the month end of last season. This league is the toughest in the world. The current Bayern manager got relegated last season, with his brand of easy on the eye but ultimately loosing brand of football.

I’ve not seen anything from this squad of players to say they can play progressive football. In the 40% possession they have they often struggle to pass it each other.

Some of them have been here since Koeman and have only ever pulled together the odd string of consistent performance. The best we go was 6 months under Carlo with arguably the strongest squad we have.

Let Dyche see out his contract and his turgid football keep us in the league. New owners, a better financial picture and a preseason to revamp the squad under a new manager seems the safest option.

Dyche isn’t as bad as people make out but I agree he isn’t going to take us up a level.

Obviously it’s all entirely subjective.
But despite the frustration in my posts , I no longer get angry at the game , just mind numbingly bored.
Judging by the crowd noise ( or lack thereof) it’s a growing apathy shared by many .
Despite this I will shortly be booking train tickets to travel to the West Ham game , addiction is a strange thing especially when the reward is so poor 😀
