2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

We could have done that, on paper it sounds like a half decent option worth trying but if you want to seriously tell me that taking Doucoure off for a full back would have been hailed as a good attacking move and everyone would have patted him on the back for it then you are being rather economical with the truth.

Exactly this.

Ideally you also want to give players their first minutes of the season in a game other than at 0-0, away from home late on.

Seems we're back to last season, with Patterson being the crux of whether we can change things.

When’s that then? Is he waiting for a game when we’re 3-0 up to give them minutes? We might be waiting a long time in that case.

This idea of being scared to take a risk to go and win a football match because it’s 0-0 is exactly why people have a problem with this manager. First thought is to protect the point rather than try and win the game. In both the Southampton and West Ham games we’ve tried to protect the 0-0, and ended up with 1 point from both of them which could potentially be catastrophic. If we’d tried to win both of them we could’ve ended up with 3 points or maybe even better. That’s how pretty much every other manager thinks. But our manager is more worried about the threat of Southampton on the counter attack than anything else.

But going up top also increases the risk of losing the game? A draw away in the premier league is a decent result most weeks.

People often overlook how important draws are. If don’t win a game, make sure you don’t lose it.

The idea that any manager is going to risk a point away from home in the 75th minute by going two up top is ridiculous.

It’s not though is it, as absolutely loads of managers would. Not every manager’s first thought is to protect the point against dross sides like West Ham. What you’re suggesting is ridiculous and exactly the way this manager thinks, which is why he’s got a 32% career win ratio.

We were holding on for a point on Saturday i agree but not against Southampton. The last 15 minutes we were well on top and looking to win it, but we didn't take any of the very presentable chances we had and then conceded on the break. It wasn't a good performance but we hadn't settled for a point.

Less than a point per games season so we are on course for about 35 points! A relegation scrap again and this manager is still getting fans making excuses for him .

This squad with the quality of teams in the league should not be fighting relegation .

Ipswich Town went to Spurs and won 2-1 with a team full of players that played for them in League 1 and the Championship. And I’m being gaslit into believing we can’t do anything other than cower away and protect the point away to a dire, out of form West Ham who are missing 2 of their best players. Also got told we should just accept a 4-0 slapping at Spurs because they’re a top 6 side and we’ve got no hope of competing because they’ve spent loads of money. Nah, get real. Totally and utterly brainwashed. The Kenwright stink still lingers on in parts of this fanbase and will take years to cleanse.

West ham made 3 subs in the 67th minute. Imagine actually trying to win a game of football. The cheek of it.

We tried to protect the 0-0 v Southampton by almost scoring two goals in the last few minutes, one off the underside of the bar, and one a nanometer offside.

By going forward for the Beto chance we got done on the counter and lost 1-0, if the ball hadn’t bounced the other way off the post we’d have won 1-0. If Dyche had ‘protected the point’ we’d have probably drawn and had another point to our tally. You’re proving my point exactly that there’s no recognition of us going for a game if we end up losing it. You want all the upside of the risk with none of the downside. Had we done the same v West Ham and that hadn’t gone our way either you’d have been absolutely revelling in another loss like a fat pig in mud feeding off all the negative news.

With the greatest respect, a 0-0 draw away at Southampton would also have been crap and 2 points out of those fixtures would also have not been good enough. Despite that basically being a title win in this manager’s head.

Excited to see where he ends up after us. I don’t reckon anyone in this league would swap their manager for him.
