2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Funny thing about the Dyche fans is they’ll be spending all of December saying “it was [Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/City] look what they’ve spent, what are we supposed to do?” The performance from August-December in the easier fixtures has left us in a position where we need points in the tougher fixtures. He’s run out of free hits I’m afraid.

Don’t beat Brentford and he should be sacked.

But we’ve had enough easy fixtures to have more points even 6 points would see us top half and then the likes of you could have at least some justification for lauding this dinasour
I really don't laud him though. There are some people who seem to think any sort of balance being added to the discussion is akin to saying he should be knighted, but I can't really be clearer on my stance. I think we play dull and negative football, I think his use of subs is sometimes very frustrating, I am on record on here as saying I didn't want him before he came, I think he could justifiably have been sacked during the long bad run last season, and I think the start to this season has been disappointing and a loss on Saturday would probably tip it into genuinely poor. I can say all that but still think some of the criticism is way over the top and not grounded in reality, because i'm a normal, rational human being who is capable of seeing both sides of a story.

Some fans on here have the same mentality as dyche, he comes out with his sound bites, like it’s a seasons work. He’d basically take a point a game and happily get to 38. I’ve said for 12 months he plays toss of a coin football, last season the coin fell in our favour and that’s why we got 48 points, already this season,
Bournemouth,
Southampton and maybe we draw at Villa last season from 2-0. Maybe we don’t t do as well from set pieces this season it wouldn’t take much for 48 points to become 35, the way he plays and sets up.

Mate, Dyche's use of substitutes is probably the worst ive seen in my lifetime.
I think this graph shows it best. From the 60 minute mark our record this season is 1 goal scored and 10 goals conceded.

Shows you he has no plan B or and doesn't make the right changes, if he makes any changes in the first place.

Sorry why is it unreasonable to suggest we should have 6-9 more points? Nobody is saying that should be our finishing position after 38 games. But based on the fixtures we’ve played after 11 games and the opportunity we’ve had I don’t think it’s unreasonable at all.
Like I said, it's not totally beyond the realms of possibility that it could happen, but just saying any decent manager would have done it is clearly just daft. There have been 8 PL seasons where we've won 3 or less away games in the entire season, and there's people absolutely losing their heads that we haven't done it by the middle of November, it's totally irrational. The start has been disappointing I don't deny that at all, but from the way some of you go on incessantly you'd think we hadn't got a point on the board yet. We're a crap team and have been for years, but it feels like everyone's just forgotten it and we've somehow reset our expectations to totally unrealistic levels. As I've said a few times, this isn't about Dyche it's about the club, if he got sacked tonight I'd be saying the same thing about whoever took over.

But he hasn’t the squad mate,
Just look at the bench and he’s made us 100’s of millions in sales. Dyche is blameless

Sean Dyche makes poor players better but can’t play better because of poor players…

I kept getting told Dyche is a manager that can overachieve with poor players, now I’m being told we’re where we are expected to be and he can’t do anything else with these players. Ok fine, then let’s sack him and actually bring in a manager that can overachieve with poor players.

It’s beyond laughable, people convincing themselves that the football “played” (in his THIRD season ffs!) has to be the worst in the entire football league with international footballers at his disposal in order to get a magnificent 1 point a game. People need to get to league one and two games to see just how football has evolved, whatever Dyche serves up and pretends is fit for purpose in 2024 is miles away from what the squad could do. Kenwright’s lingering fart

Mate I watch the 8th tier of English football on a regular basis and hardly anyone at that level plays the brand of whatever we play. It’s not an excuse, I don’t want to hear anyone come at me and tell me our players are so bad they can’t attempt to string an attack together and must sit on the edge of the box and play crisis Hail Mary football. I watch fellas who work at Screwfix during the week play football on the deck on a regular basis.

Oh behave. It's not what I said, is it.

I said it weren't good enough. I pointed out that it contained our toughest run of fixtures of the season (the fact we played city twice in that period shows why dissecting a season to suit an argument can be flawed) and that 4 of the losses were games we probably get nothing from 8 or 9 times out of 10. I then pointed out that there was 3 other losses that were not good enough, and that there was some decent draws in there. I pointed out that I didn't want him sacked then, and guess what, I was proven right (though I wasn't actually posting on here during that period) because he delivered arguably more than what we expected over the course of the season.
So you’ve basically made excuses for going a quarter of a season without winning.

Sound.

I'm not making any excuses. I'm 7 months too late for that mate.

What I've said all along is that there was some decent results in there, some poor ones, and some games we lose more often than not. At that time MY OPINION was that we shouldn't sack him. Least of all because of the pressure heaped on him from external sources. Turns out I was right, as he lead us to comfortable safety, even after having points stolen.

I'm not trying to rewrite history, I'm just explaining why I was still prepared to stick with him through that. I've never once said it's good enough for Everton Football Club, or that I would accept it again. I'm already holding him to higher standards this season, whether you care to acknowledge that or not.
