2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Probably wise mate. It’s a really cool city for a weekend but I personally couldn’t get stuck on Queens Drive for an hour before I can even think about making tracks home after yet another 0-0/ gutless loss/play for a draw/couldn’t make a 5 yard pass ever again.

Literally the best memories I have are from getting food or milling around the City with my old man rather than the game itself

All my family in the city has either passed away or moved .

So seeing the stadium will be the main purpose of the trip ..

3 points would be nice though… or even a couple of nice passages of play and a couple of goals .

Low bar I know … but got to be realistic :)

Probably easier if we just all sharpen pitchforks and call Dyche a witch that's spoiling our weekends mate.

Apparently Rangnick was replacing him with TFG prior to them walking away first time, and he knows it. He's on borrowed time - he was never getting past this season no matter what. That's not ideal in football - add 13 senior players with a contract finishing in a few months and it's a nightmare. Leicester went down IMO because of players knowing they were off.

With that in mind, if TFG have a replacement who is willing to come in now, then they need to make that change but it has to be backed with significant investment to improve our final third. I just hope we're out the bottom 3 by then.

Agreed.

Rangnick would have been interesting, he’d have needed more investment in the wide positions for two players with pace to press just as a bare minimum.

There will be times in your life cycle as a fan when you are good and bad.

Whether you are entertained or not is irrelevent. No one cares.

Your team is your team, it’s more then entertainment, it’s your background, your history, belonging to something bigger then yourself, a shared identity, culture, belief, hope values and connections that are intrinsic.

Whether you’re entertained or not is a wish but not essential.

We’ve been relegation fodder for three seasons now and I keep hearing people say they aren’t entertained, yet you can’t get a ticket for a game they are all sell out and if you get rid of your season ticket in the morning there are 10s of thousands waiting to take it off you.

It’s more.

We’d all still be going and supporting if we were in the relegation zone in Div 2.
Sorry mate, can’t agree.

If it wasn’t goodisons last season and the promise of a season ticket at BMD, you would see a drop off in attendance numbers.

The day trippers might attend for the bigger matches and cover the loss of the fans binning it off, but you would see fans voting with their feet, as we did under Walker and smith, and before HK1 back in the day.

Actually, there were a large number of empty seats at the Brentford game, and visible gaps in many stands from my vantage point in the top balc, plus some gaps near me, so people have clearly paid for the ticket but just cba attending the game, which is heartbreaking considering we won’t have the grand old lady much longer.

Honestly, If I didn’t have the kids and miss meeting some mates at Goodison, plus the above stadium situation, I’m not sure I’d be going the game, especially to watch the garbage we’re being served up.

The turnover in the squad recently has been bigger than some people appreciate

There’s the obvious players that would get in this team that you’ve listed: Richarlison Gordon Onana Iwobi plus Mina in my view

There’s a selection of fringe players that no one really liked at the time but you can make a case for all being in the squad and playing regularly now ahead of players we have: Allan, Gray, Gomes, Godfrey, Delph

I know someone will probably just highlight one name here with a laughing emoji and think that’s some sort of argument but the point is that even though most of us were happy to see some of these players depart, the ones that have replaced them(if they’ve been replaced) haven’t been better and in some cases aren’t even as good.

Do Lindstrom and Harrison offer more than Gray?

Is Mangala really offering more than Allan?

We all like Ndiaye but is he as good as prime focussed Gordon Iwobi or Richarlison?

Would I rather have Ben Godfrey at fullback over Ashley Young.

People can have whatever opinion they want on the squad quality respective to other teams but it’s simply not the same group of players as it was 24 months ago, the turnover is rapid and we look to be in for more of the same this summer.
Dyche had Onana, Iwobi, Godfrey and Mina. He dropped two of them 😂

Harrison offers more to team play than Gray even if hasn’t provided as many goals/assists.

We never had prime focused Gordon. Ndiaye will give us more than he did in terms of goal contributions and certainly as a team player.

Gueye was Allan’s replacement and yes he offers more. Mangala has also been one of our better players in recent games until he got dropped.

Our biggest loss in the last 5 years has been Richie. The rest are much of a muchness really.

I agree It’s more than entertainment or after the last few years the place would be empty but I find it hard to argue that the current football on display, the results and frankly the feeling around the place is making it at best a tough watch .

What I do find staggering is in what is our last season at goodison is people chatting , lots of seats including season tickets sat empty and fans leaving at the first opportunity. I’ve never seen the fanbase so disenchanted with club and team.

Good post mate. Wouldnt disagree with much of it.

For me its the sum of a lot of parts - Danny has been explaining very well. Its a neglect of the institution over all, we've been underfunded year on year for 4 seasons now and i think that has material impact, the football and all around it are symptomatic of that.

People are tired, people are fatigued they see hopw in the future and it cant come quick enough, so are irritated with the present.

I genuinely hope there would be a drop off - or will be if this status quo persists in the future. People have got agency - but collectively only if we move en masse. Turning up every week to watch this unacceptable dross does not merit pity or respect. It's mashochistic self-harm. Paying for the privilege of being collectively insulted every week is madness.

Loyalty is a wonderful quality - but the most loyal friend is the one who risks upsetting the apple cart by whispering badly-needed home truths when a friend is behaving in a self-destructive way. And this club has been doing just that for 35 years.

Agree with this, years of being ground down. Patience/apathy. It's no good when you run a fan site

Bizarre thing is though the people most angry at Dyche felt it wasn't Lampards fault/needed more time. It's like that context has been stripped away because Dyche is red to a bull.
Not everyone thinks that though tbf. I liked Lampard as a personality but he was really terrible and needed sacking earlier, not later. I don't hate Dyche either, i am appreciative of his efforts the first 2 seasons. There is no escaping how bad he has been this season though and i mostly blame Everton for that as they should have been competent enough to know that the time to go was the end of last season and there would have been no ill feeling whatsoever. He was never going to be able to do anything more than he had already done and it was inevitable that at some point it could quickly regress like it has. You cannot really blame Dyche for Everton keeping him on. It is typical of Moshiri's tempestuous tenure.

I dont doubt some who have a season ticket aren't going mate - but they will keep it up - with the hope of something better. But they have their ticket in the bag.

The last part of your post, is the point i was trying to make really, there is something more that prompts people to be a part of it then entertainment.
