2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

People blaming Dyche for us not being Brighton is hilarious to me.

... Dyche come in and we've had to make money every season, from a squad that was sat in 19th going into February.

We've discussed Potter to death, who spent £100m to take them from 40 points, to 41, to 41 again. He was being booed by Brighton fans in his final season when he finished 3 points above our tally last season. He'd have been hung from the main stand before them 3 years were up if he was at Everton. Totally different.

Potter was a symptom of Brighton being a very well ran club. No coincidence Brighton have kicked on after he left, and Potter hasn't had a job in over 2 years.

Just like Dyche is a symptom of Everton.

People put way too much on a manager.

Everton's biggest problem and cause of our situation is entirely created by Moshiri and the rot was well set in, and we were long circling the drain before Dyche.
Moshiri and Dyche can both be bad. It's weird to me that you always present it as an either/or. You also repeatedly claim that people who criticise Dyche are putting it all on him when almost all of them are also highly critical of Moshiri. Hopefully we'll be shut of the pair of them by Christmas.

I've a feeling Dyche is one of those managers who comes in to the dressing room with a 'clean slate' speech
as in
'look lads, there's been a lot going on, a lot of people, me included, have said and done daft things, let's draw a line under it yeah, let's start fresh from now. They all think we're useless, lets show them what we can do' then points to a board with a bank of 4 and 5 and full backs belting balls to the opposite wings because they'll expect it from pickford but not Myko.
Problem is, this pep talk works once, maybe twice. I'd imagine Dyche is pushing seven rounds at this point.
We're clearly at the stage where players are muttering under their breath and slating him in private whatsapp groups.

The best case scenario is we win tomorrow and Saturday then they come in and wield the axe.

At least the starting position for the new manager will look a lot more healthier.

Personally not convinced they'd wield the axe on day one if we have any sort of decent-ish points return by that point.

They will want their own man though, there's no doubt about that. It would take something astonishing for him to stave off the boot and still be here next season - as it would for most managers when new owners come in.

He's sounding pretty defiant these days, has to be said

Also - I could've misheard, but did he basically confirm that Thelwell has been speaking with TFG about the January window?

Well that was interesting. Still dropped a few clangers (like saying we haven’t got any great strikers 🧐). But the most humble he has been about his own mistakes, and in some ways the most determined he has sounded. Some more direct questions helped.

Yeah noticed even Giulia Bould was hitting him with some awkward questions today.
