2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Quality recruitment, something we’ve lacked since Moshiri joined.

17m on O’Brien is quite clearly down to payment terms with that basket case Textor. I’m not sure we’ll have paid anything up front.

People forget how close to the sun we came here. There’s still rumours someone has to go in January for PSR.
Well then Pickford/Branthwaite is gone because those are the only two players any club would pay money for.

So it’s now about quality recruitment and not just net spend. The manager has a say in the quality of recruitment you know.

Yeah. He came in when they had 3 wins last season and then got them 6 more in the 2nd half of the season while overseeing a points deduction and only signing a GK and 2 loan deals. (One of which made 2 starts, and the other made only 4 appearances with a grand total of 14 minutes).
But the players didn't magically improve overnight like people are suggesting (or literally writing in some cases) did they? Cooper had 3 wins from 17 games, Nuno got 4 wins from his first 17.They are now a very different squad and are much better for it. They've recruited well, and also have a better manager than us. Making out like the only thing that's changed at Forest is the manager is another weak argument to try to ram home a point that everybody already gets.

But they’re not though. They’ve added a handful of players, mainly squad fillers this summer, as we’ve also done. They lost a starting centre back and replaced him. The core 8-10 players in their first team were there under Cooper.

I think what @SuperKev91 is trying to point out is...

Forget Nuno going in mid season and changing Forests fortunes

Forget Emery going in mid season and changing Villas fortunes

Forget Parreira taking over Wolves and instantly getting them winning

Forget any manager taking over any club anywhere in the world

None of this applies to Everton.... Just Everton that is different to any other club in the world and no manager can get more from these players than Dyche, which if that is the case Dyche must be, by your own admission, the best manager in the world.....

Is that accurate SuperKev?

Hope there was a big old Barney in the changing rooms after yesterday, with the players asking him what they were doing that was opposite of what he wanted, because the first 45mins looks exactly like every other match under Dyche.

Well I think that's a legitimate question, trying to play quick football with 63% possession or whatever against a team that counter attacks. Does not seem logical. It's another reason to get Doucoure out of the team and another striker in, probably necessitates Patterson starting as well.

They are though, they had 5 players starting yesterday who they signed in the summer. Some of the others are young lads who've improved as they move towards their peak. They have recruited well, we haven't, this isn't shock new information Mike. Nuno is a better manager than Dyche, their players are better than ours, they have had a plan as a club and we haven't. We don't have to be so myopic, all these things can be true together.

Nope, but cherry pick the occasions where it’s worked and leave out any where it hasn’t.

How is RVN doing?

How about Amorim?

Villa had a very talented squad under Gerrard. Forest had some really talented players after their mental buying spree, Nuno has had a while with them now and added further to that.

Perreira has had what three games? I’ve been saying for a while Wolves should pull clear with Palace, they have better players than us.

What I’m trying to say, is we don’t have any real ‘talent’ that’s underperforming. I think as a collective we could be doing a bit better yeah, 100%. But these players can all follow this crap manager out the door bar about three of them.

Bizarre this whole discussion.

Can a manager getting a tune out of the same players as his predecessor through better coaching and tactics also be true? Or is that only true when people want it to be to suit an argument?
