2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The Everton job was a big one for Sean Dyche to take on, which he did okay but didn't show any signs of growth or advancement in the end. Does anyone on here reckon he'll get another bite of the cherry with a decent-sized club or is his goose cooked now as far as a big appointment is concerned? I personally feel that his one-dimensional approach and inability to adapt his tactics when necessary have blotted his copybook.

Leicester and they`ll go on such a free scoring run, that`ll relegate us in the process

IF.....

Tarkowski's equaliser gets disallowed for Beto's push or maybe the 5 mins added time doesn't stretch to 8.
Brighton get a free-kick for a push on Veltmann rather than the handball
Palace's corner doesn't get blew up for going out

None of those would have been considered the most egregious decisions ever, or indeed this season, but they have made a big difference. Nice to see us get on the positive end of these decisions but I'd be wary of thinking Moyes has got it sussed and will deliver wins with regularity based on an excellent recent form table.

When his direct counter-attacking stuff works it's great....when it doesn't it comes across as stiff, inflexible and 'dinosaur'-esque. Almost Dycheian.

Still a dearth of quality in the squad and plenty of scope for winless runs yet. I'd still maintain that Dyche certainly underperformed this season but he isn't the sole reason we were in that relegation mix. His comments about some of those draws being wins was certainly badly phrased and hence came across as pretty ludicrous on the surface of it but there is a point of sorts in there.

SO far under Moyes we've had a better relationship with those 'moments' recently with the L's becoming D's and the D's becoming W's.
You forgot us getting lucky against Leicester with us scoring after 10 seconds. Had we not they would have played their way into the game and ended up sneaking it.

Literally no one is. Not one single person has ever said he’s done this for free or should be given a sainthood.

The short list for the job in 23 was short of quality, hence why we ended up with Dyche in the first place and got turned down by a bloke who had been fired by Leeds. He didn’t have to take what was a difficult job, he understandably wanted to be compensated for taking on the risk (like any business transaction) we had no negotiating power at the time and fortunately it worked out for both parties.
Sure, he absolutely didn't have to take the job but he did due to his own personal lack of other options and the hefty financial compensation that came with it. It was a straightforward deal, no manager with any clout wanted to manage us at the time and no club with any clout wanted him to manage them. Like you said, it worked out for both parties but its not like he was in a boss position to turn us down. Its not like there was a massive que of clubs begging him to manage them.

The dichotomy doesn’t exist. Dyche laid the foundations, Moyes is now building the house. Bizarrely lots of Everton fans actually back whoever the manager at the time is and therefore don’t need to be on either side of a binary choice that is fabricated and doesn’t exist.
I wish the club would have had a dycheotomy earlier 😄
