2022/23 Sean Dyche

I agree mate I think a Dyche looked at Holgates performances against Ayew and Mahrez and didn’t fancy him for the game yesterday. I personally would have started the same 11 as last week but I also understand his thinking on this. McNeil did a great job on Troare but we need him up the field next week.
Let’s be honest his hands were tied. He either gets pelters for Holgate there again or he does what he did and gets pelters.

For what it’s worth I think when he has all his players fit then we have played decent football in parts. Also think we started well again yesterday until the brain dead defending on their goal.

I do think his in game management is poor. Makes no sense to me that simms has been permanently benched - especially when we had Keane and maupay up front.

He needs to find a way next week - I really think the only way to go is 3 5 2.
Pickford
Mina coady tarkowski
Iwobi gana garner Onana McNeill
Doucoure grey

Really think that’s the only option next week unless mykolenko is fit. Let’s hope it’s enough.

A formation shift like that is what all of us moaning about Keane at RB wants. Don't think anyone wanted him to play Holgate but wanted to see iwboi move over to RB and get McNeil further up the field on the left.

You already know dyche is sticking to two banks of four next week. Proper brextiball

Out of our hands now. We can win 5-0 next week and still finish 19th.

You could have almost writ that game yesterday as scripted. Lots of effort. Few chances. Wolves first attack. Bang 1-0.
We have so little quality. The chances of Everton winning both games against wolves and bournemouth were remote. When did Everton last win back to back games. When did dyche last win back to back games for that matter.
I think Alan Shearer summed up Everton pretty well. No quality. Lots of effort.

Oh. Should have got demarai gray more involved in his time here aswell. Hes not great. We havent got anyone great. But hes good enough for this team as a goal threat and goal creator to have at least had more of a run than say maupay.

To be fair, Gray has been poor since Dyche arrived. At least if he's on the bench we've got someone to bring on who can change a game with a moment of magic.

I worry if Gray starts next week and it's not going well then we'll look to the bench and have nothing in reserve.

Hes hardly used him at all even off the bench.
But im struggling to make a case for any Everton player. I think hes just slightly more effective.

Obviously he's on a hiding to nothing if we get relegated.

But even the haters have to admit - there isn't much to make wins out of in this squad and we are always a couple of injuries away from a make-shift line-up.

Now we have no reliable left or right-back which makes us vulnerable and he can't rely on us outscoring the opposition - I can understand having a conservative shape.

However, to actually put the ball in the back of the net he should be choosing Gray if DCL is out - even if he thinks he is some sort of luxury.

…I think we were 2 points adrift going into the last 4 games;

Brighton A
City H
Wolves A
Bournemouth H

i reckon most posters would’ve settled for a possible 7 points from 12 available. Last week some were suggesting 4 points from our last 2 games will DEFINITELY see us safe, we are in a position to achieve that.

As for selection, he has gone with what he trusts. The Doucoure sending off & Coleman’s injury were major losses. The DCL fragility was well known and the failure to have an adequate back-up is down to Thelwell.

injuries forced him to try Holgate and Godfrey but he discarded them. He was far too loyal with Keane; Mina and Coady are much better options but I suppose he came around to that view in the end.

i think we take stock next week but at the moment I’m not in a rush for change.

I'm not convinced by Dyche, but I'd be starting at the top - with the board and then cutting into the players before throwing this manager overboard.

I won't blame him if we're relegated, but I don't want him in the job next season no matter what happens next week.

Run around full pelt for as long as players can manage, and then spend the rest of the game trying to draw fouls and win throw-ins/corners. That's all you're ever getting from this fella.
