Today was one of those days. We were the better team until they scored, which having seen replays looks like an extremely harsh decision. Taylor’s refereeing was abysmal all game. Onana’s booking after 2 minutes felt like it limited his involvement. The game plan was effective in the first half and we got the ball wide and moved it pretty effectively. It’s not Dyche’s fault that his options up front are Maupay or Simms and that is the glaring problem in this team.

we’re doomed aren’t we chris i’m so so so so depressed right now. i thought as had a slim chance
Matty, we were let down by the DoF and the board. Everyone in world football could see we needed goals.

The issue I have with Dyche is he’s very one dimensional in his approach to attacking. We neither have a big man up top or midfields that know when to attack in a dangerous situation

I think any manager had no shot; it’s why Bielsa flew half way across the world to laugh in our faces

I just can’t fathom for the life of me how a manager who has lived off 4-4-2 his entire career and even done a tactics video about it, rocks up at Everton and just flat out point blank refuses to let two strikers be on the pitch at the same time.
I think because where he has played it last time, he trusted the players he brought in to play that system. If he did so today, he doesnt gain anything (in his mind) playing Simms and Maupay together but he sacrifices in midfield - he tried to replicate what he did against Leeds which was always going to go sour if we went behind.

Considering all the money we have spent in recent times it's pretty mind blowing to realise Dyche had better forward options at Burnley. Doesn't matter how much you huff and puff during a match if you can't rely on anyone to put the ball in the net.

Just got to hope we scrape enough points to fix that problem in the summer.
It’s a bit of a myth though really isn’t it….our net spend in the last four years or so hasn’t been that high even with other moderate PL clubs….I think the strategy was to come in, spend a few bob….make some money off player trading which would make money for transfers self sustainable to a degree, but we spent on absolute tosh, by this point we are pushing the limits of PL P&S rules, hence the fairly low spend. As an additional point the one thing we have shown time and time again as a club is that when a successful forward leaves we simply do not know how to replace them

Absolutely spot on.
