2022/23 Sean Dyche

We're all entitled to change our mind, particularly as events change.

My point was on how you're saying now that Dyche hasn't done a good job, when just a few months back you wrote us off as relegated because we don't have forward and how we can't score, with a team so bad we can't appoint a progressive manager and how you'd take going to the last day needing a win.

It's indicative of what I'm seeing - undermining and downplaying the challenge Dyche had.

We've got to be fair.
I'll take staying up in any manner. And if Dyche achieves it then he's been a success, because his goal was 17th or better.

Just how bad Leicester and Leeds have been has certainly helped us. I didn't see Leicester being on 30 points after 35 games. It would be disappointing to not finish the job off after the big win last week, especially since 35 could be enough.

I disagree with that, If he keeps us up then i think we need to change because a Dyche style keeps you bottom half next season IMO
Like you say i expected us to be hard to beat but we are anything but that, i know a lot is the players but ive seen nothing to suggest that a full pre-season and a change in personnel would see us be much better than this season.
If we stay up then the target next year needs to be something realistic like 45 points. That would still get you bottom half (maybe 12th or 13th) but would be a pretty decent improvement.

I'm of the view that the team we have dictates that mate.

No manager has this team top half next season.

I'll be honest, I just like us sacking managers. Having Moyes for 11 years meant we didn't have the fun of the managerial merry go round so as far as I'm concerned we're making up for it

We may never compete for a trophy again, but only Watford can compete with us sacking managers with amazing regularity (I must admit I admire Leeds looking to follow the same model. If West Ham beat them, they'll sack Allardyce and hire Mark Viduka & Harry Kewell for the last game)

Coady's a big decision to make.

Basically all down to Thelwell but what's the point signing a guy already 30 given it's already been decided he's behind Keane (and Mina) in the pecking order?

That's where joined up thinking needs to work given there's still a permanent option to do the deal in place.
I think Coady's cameo yesterday may put him in front of Keane, he looked tidy when he came on. His brain fart the derby took a long time to forget.

Next season could be a 39-40 point season to stay in the league which means 45 points like you say would mean a relegation battle again!

Said it before. People moaning about Watford sacking their manager should have a look at their history. Spent more time in the premier league with these owners then any other time before.

Well, no. You're wrong.

Take @Goat - he wants Dyche sacked if we stay up. He wasn't saying that last season about Lampard.

He's not alone.

The attitude towards Dyche is a world away from what it was towards Lampard.
The attitude towards Dyche is similar to the attitude towards Allyrdyce but with less hostility.

I think Dyche has already shown enough to keep his job no matter what happens.

I think the Pozzo family just love a good sacking. It's quite refreshing to just sack someone and their 15 staff, pay millions in compo then do it all again.

That’s not impossible under Dyche, he’s going at about a point per game. If we can give him some better attacking options next season he could easily improve on this, especially playing easier fixtures without the pressure of a relegation battle and players’ confidence shot.

If we stay up we need to build under Dyche for a few seasons and get us back to being in the top half pushing for Europe. We’ll be in the new stadium by then. If he starts to hit a ceiling at that point and we need a new manager then we’re a far more attractive proposition for a new manager then than we would be now.

I agree, but his style is based upon percentage football (win the second ball) we will never dominate games playing like that, we will never have sustained attacks consistently, we will never gain momentum. I dont see Dyche playing football any other way than what he's done all his career.
Look at De Zerbi as an example he has bang average players playing at their maximum like Dunk March etc... because of the style they play.
Emery has transformed Villa
Howe Newcastle
Silva Fulham

I'd take 25 Sean Dyches over 1 of that gravy guzzling slob

Dyche is miles better than Allardyce in my view. Allardyce was playing ultra low blocks and five at the back when he actually had attacking options plus funds to buy players in January. I just don’t think Allardyce could manage the performance we saw against Brighton, we’d have gone in looking for a 0-0 then given up if we’d conceded or looked for a set piece equaliser. We’d have protected the 1-0 loss to Spurs when we’d gone a man down. We wouldn’t have been pushing for a winner against Leicester away.

I am thinking of the last 3 games, ok we turned Brighton over but in looking at these games it strikes me that Dyche's main aim is not to lose hence there is an emphasis on defend not to go out and attack. This could also account for the subbing or lack of subbing, this part of his management has raised ? s.
I remain unconvinced that Dyche is the manager for us.

Weve just gone and hit brighton for 5?
