Sometimes, legging it about like the napalm girl will end with a lead to defend once we run out of steam (and very occasionally, we'll glimpse the peak of the art form, eg Brighton). Other times, against teams that can leave de Bruyne, B Silva and Grealish on the bench, the game will be dead before the break.

Reminds me a lot of Benitez's approach, especially during his European adventures with Liverpool.

It would be nice if the club learnt its lesson after Lampard and moved him on regardless of what happens in the next two games, but it's certainly not something I'm expecting to see happen.

I’m hoping that the new investment/board members may hold some sway in this,I must admit I’m not sold on Dyche as a long term option for us whether we stay up or go down.

We don't have attacking full backs as we don't play like that under Dyche and his defending is definitely good enough to be a backup at least.

Oviedo though, really?! lol
Oviedo was exceptional for that period when he stepped in for Baines. He produced performances that I’ve never seen mykolenko come close to repeating. Of course his career when downhill after that.

Also Mykolenko is on the younger side and he's shown flashes of being good, he's just gotta improve crossing a lot.

People will slag him off whatever happens anyway so not like it's a relevant point tho

Our form over the past 12 games puts us 16th, two points from bottom three and the 4th worst GD in the league, so there's been very little improvement.

Granted he hasn't had a window to bring his own players in, but it's likely we won't have much to play with in the summer anyway. So we need a manager who can improve what we have. Sadly I don't think SD is that guy.

Wouldn't McNeil at left back with Gray wide left have been the obvious move today, Holgate is an erratic central defender who is weak in the air, a poor right back and an absolutely terrible option at left back. It was difficult to know if it was a back 4 or a back 5 at times he was so narrow. Also, why does Maupay continue to get time on the pitch?
In hindsight yes, but McNeil had one of the best games an Everton player has had in seasons a week earlier, counter attacking a team who play similar to City.

Dyche was on a hiding to nothing today re: left back.

Some of the takes here, christ. People saying change the shape.. we had a fantastic game with the same shape last time out, they would've worked on it all week and then lost the only left back the day before the game. Does it really make sense to go you know what lads let's completely change the set up a day before the game. Especially against City. The last time they failed to win a league game was in the middle of Feb. I think the performance up until they scored was fine considering.

Do people think we'll actually get a better manager in the 2nd tier?

I'm not even a particularly big dyche fan but he is a capable manager. Constantly sacking managers is suicidal.

He's done OK, I thought we'd be adrift after Janurary window so to be out the bottom 3 with 2 games to go is OK. If the [Poor language removed] turn up tomorrow we go into the final two just knowing we need to match those below us.

We lost to one of the best ever English sides. It’s part of the territory. You don’t change anything based on this result

Arsenal home , and Brighton last week were sensational wins , but for me much of the rest has been disappointing.
He’s not good enough in my opinion and he gives me no hope looking forward , as I’ve said often enough I’m not a fan of his preferred style.
