2023/24 Sean Dyche

I'm sure there's a good list of managers that could do better with this squad. And even some that could try and play football.
With the plethora of ball playing talent at Dyche's disposal, I must admit I am surprised he hasn't gone all 'total football' and started talking in a gravelly Dutch accent.

We can clone Messi 10 times and this is still how we'll play though?
We sadly don't have one tenth of a Messi, we have a squad of mainly journeyman and yes at times it means it is a hard watch for sure.

However the manager has set us up as well organised and hard to beat to spare us from the last minute survival that we've had to endure for several years. To be fair he's done that very well, given the resources at his disposal.

Irrelevant - we'll play crap idealess football with him at the helm was my point, not if we LITERALLY have Messi's toe or something.

He only signs limited, tall or old players, it's who he is. It will always be a hard watch and we'll always be like we are now - preparing for a relegation fight from game 1.

He's doing an okay job and he is a hindrance to his own and our progress as much as any point deduction or anything else that can have any effect on us.

You think the quality of the players does not dictate the quality of the football on offer?
You judge him on the signings he's made, whilst at relegation/financially threatened clubs?
You say he's doing ok but is a hindrance as much as any point reduction?

I genuinely don't know where to start with any of that, your mind is made up though, so crack on.

1) Yes - he was at Burnley for 10 years, had money at several points and spent a good chunk on some absolute utter crap.
2) Yes - read the above. He signed Ashley Young for us lol
3) Yes - no plan B at any point (Doucoure out for a game = pantshitting time), no proactive subs/actions, these things cost us points or games in both the short and long term.

You are aware it was Burnley? They hadn't been in the top flight for 40 odd years like?

You are also aware that since signing for us he has been very hamstrung financially? I'd be interested to know who you think he should have signed for us,
instead of Ashley Young for example, given our financial constraints?

Which system do you think he should have played last night then, without our main goal threat from midfield? Who do you think he should have played?

As for costing us points, you are aware he has amassed more points at this stage of the season than those managers from the past 2 years? Do you think we should be top 6, on 40 odd points or something?

it’s madness the abuse he’s getting

Quite. He's not beyond reproach but you'd think he'd taken over our team in '77 or '85, spent millions, turned us into Wimbledon and got us relegated. Fellas think we should be playing a more free flowing style of football, and that's sound but I disagree based on the quality of players we have available.

Hardly one* player in this team (I won't even mention squad) would not get into any of our average teams, let alone better teams, over the last 50 years.

*Edit: Pickford for Wright or Howard aside.

You're aware it's how he works and what will 100% happen and is happening here too anyway, right?

The other 2 are absolute excuses, for which he has a lot of people making those.

He has amassed, but now imagine if we'd had any sort of moderately average home form and didn't lose about 7 on the bounce early season - all his doing, stubborn selections until players got injured.

Or now - imagine if we had an apparently impossible plan B for when Doucoure can't play. But alas, we cannot, as it is Sean Dyche - who is truly the most limiting person for Sean Dyche.

You say "he's not beyond reproach" but are willing to die on the hill of "he's doing a fantastic job" when people actually give him any criticism and say he's getting abused lol He has more flaws than positives to be a long term manager for us; Budget Sam Allerdyce.

Sorry what will 100% happen? You've lost me with that first sentence.

I asked you who he should have signed, and who/how he should play in place of Doucs as that was/is your criticism? You don't know the answer, you haven't even got an opinion. Sound.

I'm not prepared to die on any hill, I think he's done a very good job in the circumstances we're in, and he is precisely what we need, right now. His points gained on the pitch, which is THE benchmark, proves that.

I don't recall saying he was abused, I think that was someone else, but the smiley face tells me you seem confident I did? Either way it's easy to shout and call him out after the event, but you're all over the place when it comes to what we actually need to do.
