2023/24 Sean Dyche

Obviously I hope Dyche succeeds - and I think we have a better squad than we've had for a while.
It's then up to him to set the team up properly - and hope that they can also get into a winning mentality - certainly against the teams that are likely to be around us towards the bottom of the table. He hasn't done that this season - and in fact his selection and set up has major flaws. It's not helped by players not either being fully match fit or picked when out of form. Against Luton we had a fair few opportunities to be 2 up - and if we had played the ball simply instead of going for hollywood finishes we probably would have. The defensive set up at corners is appalling though. He did not react to the zonal marking for outswinging corners. That's on him - and to an extent the players. So far we've not seen any player reach anything like a 7/10 performance - except for maybe a couple against Brentford / Villa. It's not good enough - but it will get better. Has to really otherwise we are toast. He needs to start the team we're all calling for - especially at home. We need to be on the front foot and attack from the kick off. We need control of the midfield - which does mean dropping either Onana or Gueye for Garner. It's also vital that both full backs play on the front foot. I'd play Patterson and Young - Mykolenko has not impressed me at all. Harrison and a fully fit McNeil should both start - and I'd also play DCL ahead of Beto, My team is Pickford/Patts/Tarks/Branners/Young/Harrison/Gueye/Garner/McNeil/Duke and DCL.

Yeah I think I saw or heard it somewhere

he’s in the last year of his contract so a lot of mid-lower prem clubs will be sniffing for an experienced freebie to bolster their squad depth for next season

lol where? You don’t get to just say that and make it become fact.

I haven’t seen any reports anywhere about that. What was your source?

He was relegated twice, he got fired because he'd won 4 games all season, 1 (his last one) against spineless Everton.

Prepare for relegation - get relegation. He's preparing from relegation before the season starts.

That's all, I'm bored of going in circles, all a bit Lampardian of you with this - glad you think he can do no wrong, he's done everything wrong so far, we barely beat the worst side in professional football and looked absolutely lost for a full half against them.

Then we repeated that 3 more times.
The "It wasn't Dyche's fault that Burnley got relegated because he wasn't the manager at the end of the season" line people keep trotting out is just so incredibly bonkers.

Dyche was sacked on 15 April, at which point they had played 30 league games. They had 4 wins, 12 draws, and 14 losses, for a total of 24 points, or 0.8 points per game.

The caretaker who finished the year then managed the final 8 league games. In those, they had 3 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses, for a total of 11 points, or 1.375 points per game.

If the guy who replaces you increases your actual results by over 70 percent and the team get relegated by 3 points, you are the one who relegated them, not the guy left holding the bag after at the end of the year.

My favourite were his "this is our limit" type pressers, and Burnley went on to not lose for 5 games or something when they fired him lol

Yeah a lot of teams lining up for a 100k/week player for sure.

He's such a horse that can only fit 1 very niche role which most teams have covered by better players.
