You know, a lot of us suffered plenty of abuse from people who said it didnt matter that the team was playing well, and laughed at us saying we would start winning once we had a striker in. Almost all changed their tune when they realized the obvious after we started winning a bunch of matches.

But you've decided to remain an ignoramus
🤔...par for the course on here perry - and yet here you are
credit to you for sticking to your principles.
??
Diddums some people disagreed with you boo kin hoo...fwiw, I wasn't one of them, I happen to broadly agree, but Alternate League Tables are at worst RAWKish and at best belong in the realm of Harry Turtledove.

Dyche is getting a tune out of them, now some people mightn't like the tune, but low possession clean sheet wins do have a certain catchy whistle-ability to them.
It's nearly Christmas so in a spirit of peace on earth and goodwill to all men I wish you and all your family a merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous and above all, a healthy new year.

Has it, though? Compared to what? I would argue that the biggest cohort of Evertonians has always wanted a high energy, direct style of football. I don't see a great deal of "hipsterism", as you call it, at this club.
Literally no idea, but someone on here said that exact phrase the other day and I've ran with it ever since. Look out for me using it in future online discourse regarding the toffees.

I don't even know what it means to be honest.

Thats how you vault somebody.

10/10.

That was a pretty bad record.
My view on Dyche has changed somewhat, he has done a good job turning the ship around and although I know we will not keep this type of form up all season it does feel like we have got our Everton back.... many factors have led to this but the biggest being the performances and results.

Now if the "dodgy" independent commission give us our points back we could be pushing for Europe, dust your passports off lads....

Don't know how many times it needs saying mate - it isn't an "alternate league table", it's merely a representation of how Everton have "performed" in games this season vs everyone else and is only provided in the context of backing up the point that a number of us here were saying (to much scorn) that we were playing well and the results would eventually come. It's one crude metric to illustrate this. If you don't like stats being used as part of an argument, I can't help you.

If it wasn't for a corrupt PL we'd be only a few points off 6th place now. There's a very Dogs Of War like quality to this Everton team.

In terms of problems with this club, the manager is down at the bottom of the list for me. Sean Dyche is just one of those tough/no nonsense old school managers.

That's what i like about him, although the footballing hipsters do like to look down their noses on these types for some reason. lol

Mate…. We are going to win the league cup… there … I said it .

He has really won me over personally. I’ve never called for him to be sacked (not seriously anyway but have sarcastically in this thread).
I have called him out for his in game management many times, certainly his use of substitutes (which has improved recently) and narrow full backs. And can’t get my head around his blind spot at RB.

But I thought he was poor for us last season, yes we stayed up, but I was really on the fence about keeping him.

Then we had our worst start to the league since Mike Walker. And despite a few decent performances such as Fulham, wolves which didn’t get results we also had a number of god awful performances like Luton, Villa, Doncaster, Arsenal (and we had strikers for those games)

Combine the poor results with those poor performances and it’s pretty valid for people to have wanted him sacked etc.

xG is a garbage stat that means nothing come end of season. It is also skewed by incidents where we could have 3 shots in a goal mouth scramble (which has happened) when if we had scored the first, the others wouldn’t have happened etc.

So Dyche has only improved because of shrewd criticism from fans too lazy to use more than one statistic, none of these fans were wrong despite the outcome being the opposite of what they predicted. Okay dokie
Oh mate, at some point results will fail and he will get sacked.

So I'm not wrong.

This comment is the worst example of Everton hipsterism I’ve ever seen.

Dyche has impressed me for three reasons:

  1. No nonsense (OK no news here)
Improved physicality, effort and commitment. But it's an accomplishment because he's managed to get a group that didn't exude this previously to buy into it and improve. That's a HUGE part of our improvement. On the football side, he's kept the role of players simple and clear, and they're responding.
  2. He's improved indiviual players
Not just the energy or commitment, they're output. Doucoure, Mykolenko, DCL, Mcneil. Garner and Brantthwaite etc too (but there would hopefully have been improvement in young players anyway and now Dobbin coming along very nicely). I don't want to over sing Dyche's impact across the board, but individuals are improving within a clear system
  3. BIG ONE THIS... He's learned from mistakes. That's a HUGE difference between Dyche and just about anyone since Moyes. We didn't get pre-season or our early games right. He's fixed it within the constraints of the squad. This takes huge humility and because he likes to show strength and being 'relentless etc' has not been vocal or media facing in these mistakes, but he's not repeated them either (barring over playing Young IMHO).

Hah, seems a feeling was hurt. Which is surprising considering you came in so negative on someone just giving a positive post trying to knock down their good feelings a bit. I hope you have a more optimistic and merrier Christmas!

It is quite something isnt it. On the plus side, I got a clearer view of who the rational people are who can actually judge play on the pitch, and could see the long term future of the club. I probably wont credit the club with the decision to stick with Dyche as they probably had to due to finances, but it seems hes been the first good decision they've made in a while. Moshiri must not have been involved...
