2024/25 Sean Dyche

I tend to blame the players in that scenario, but if the coaching staff is genuinely not giving specific tactical instructions to a central midfielder, you have to wonder. Really just reacting to those contrasting quotes. To be fair Dyche has made a career out of grinding out low scoring wins, so who knows.
Well it's exactly that, 1-0 leads have been his bread and butter so when it goes wrong you can't just say he's telling the players nothing. Evidently they know how to defend a lead in the past

Perhaps he just doesn't want to burden a youngster with tactical instructions? If he knows what he can bring to the team, and there's other players providing a tactical structure, then it's not always a bad thing. He's getting a tune out of him tbf.

So just for clarification, if we scrape survival this season with 37 points you won’t be in this thread hailing Dyche as the messiah for the amazing job he’s done?

Not for the job this season no. Taking us backwards from 48 points to 37 isn’t a good job (unless there’s some huge mitigating factor like Moshiri sells half his team in January or Branthwaite Tarkowski Pickford all crock each other for the entire season)

If we get into the stadium a PL team and the takeover happens it’s job done from what the job was when he arrived 18 months ago (stay up, ride out PS&R, don’t go bust), but job done isn’t the same as ‘messiah’ or amazing.

If he improves on 48 points this season I think it’s a very decent job for 2 and a half seasons work considering where he started. I know people will misinterpret this as I want to build a statue to him or something but I genuinely don’t think there’s anything that controversial in there.

Either way I think we part ways at the end of the season. He’ll either have taken us backwards or delivered us to Textor (or another) as a mid table squad that another manager can take forward. That was the job we hired him to do in January 2022 wasn’t it? Save us from the drop and stabilise us? Or did some expect him to be pushing Europe within 18 months of being in the bottom 3, with multiple points deductions ahead, and a sell to pay instalments transfer policy.

I think that's very fair and I hold a very different view of Dyche's managerial ability to yourself.

He undoubtedly had very difficult circumstances to deal with and if he maintains PL standing he will have done a decent job but , IMO , the football is godawful and he is not the man to take Everton to a different level.

I’m disillusioned with him to be honest but i guess most are. If he keeps us up its job done but it’s depressing footy. If we get new owners/new impetus then he’s a goner.

I think Dyche is a very limited manager, who for the length of time he has managed in the prem even with Burnley has always had very bad starts to the season, so with this in mind you would think he would change his approach, ie pre season or his gaffa days etc as they obviously don't work, but no he is a very stubborn man as it has been proven.

His use of subs has been awful since he has been here, I remember the 1st season he was her v Leicester away a game we had to win, it was a very open game and Leicester looked dead on their feet with 10 mins to go it was crying out for some pace in our attack to go on and potentially win the game, certain players looked dead on their feet and he left Gray on the bench for that game, that's were I thought this guy has only won very limited games for a reason.

So for me as soon as this Textor guy hopefully comes in, his 1st job should be to show this stubborn clown the door
