Strange PL this season. The 'midtable' has felt bloated - you could probably go from 3rd down to define it. Lots of points being won and lost to each other with fine margins determining matches and league positions. Everton have come out of it as bad as you could imagine based on the fact that sides like Arsenal and Leeds have never felt superior until the past couple of games. The European places have just slipped away...which felt like a minimum requirement as little as 6 weeks ago.

Summary: fine lines...hard lines...falling short.

Not a strange season at all is the verdict for me, anything but infact.

West Ham and David Moyes getting top six the only unexpected event, reminiscent of how he initially did it for us after Walter Smith's relegation battles. For me he's still been the one who's done most for us since Howard - he's finally found his new Everton.

Strange season or is it? Same old faces in the top 4, even top 8 - same recently promoted down and just relegated up, no it's not a strange season at all - the result is precisely as expected

4 Kopites have voted so far.

it has been an Everton season, full of hope, tickling the bellies of the big boys with a couple of big wins but ultimately falling into a black hole of nothingness with our peers of villa, newcastle and West Ham

West Ham went from relegation trouble last season to top six this season. I'd hardly compare their successful season to ours - considering the position they started from.

Got to hand it to Moyes, he's found his mojo once again.

Points wise not too had, one of our better points totals in recent years (best since koemans first season)
Disappointing collapse in last few games to fail to secure Europe, and also.just not looking very good.
So 5/10 for me.

When all is said and done we finished just 8 points off the top 4. Last season we were 17 points behind the top 4. We have improved greatly. Had our home form been slightly better this season we’d have got 4th. We miss the 12th man - the Goodison faithful.
This is true. The points tally is THE encouraging take-away from the season. A reasonable observation from Ancelotti.

Top 4 qualification was low this season as was the tally to actually win the league. This just reflects the fact that it felt a more equal league this season. It's unlikely that this will be repeated meaning Everton's tally will have to shift along with the other sides looking towards Europe.

My season appraisal? I’ve just dug out a shirt that’s been in the dirty washing basket for god knows how long to wear to the gym as the only clean sports type shirt I have is an Everton shirt and I’m too angry and ashamed to wear it out.

a season of “could have beens” which leaves an unpalatable end to the season. Simply not good enough, these last few games hopefully a wake up call to moshri. We need 5-6 here, not just 2-3, which wasn’t how I felt at the start of the season.

My wildcard, our fitness is shocking, needs addressing pronto
