How can you disagree when the record shows so few youth players got 10 or more starts under Moyes. Kieran Agard got 30 seconds. Lucaz Jutkewitz got 2 minutes. Both have had decent careers since leaving. Kissock, Bjarne, Plessis (a whole season on the bench), how many starts in a row for Victor? Duffy, McAleny, Gueye, Barkley FFS. Ruddy.

Agard - 3 years later he is playing for Rotherham but you think at 21 we should have played him. Based on what?
Jukewitz - He's now a decent championship player.
Kissock - drifted around lower league teams
Bjarne - everyone knew he could pass. That was it.
Plessis - at 26 has yet to manage 50 league starts in his career.
Duffy - Martinez loaned him out
Victor - Martinez sold
McAleny - Martinbez loaned him out
Gueye - Martinez doesn't even give bench time.

I'm not saying Moyes didn't make mistakes on that but you choose the most bizarre players to have a problem with their game time.

Quite a coincidence that he happens to be at a different stage of his career when a new manager comes in.
There's not much arguement here about Martinez being better for Ross than Moyes. The accusations are that Moyes was actually bad for our youth though. Moyes could have been doing the right thing to a point for some of our young lads and Martinez is reaping the benefit of it or taking it further than Moyes would or felt he could.

I think that it was pretty obvious over the years that Moyes always preferred the "safe" option of Playing 1st teamers out of position rather than giving a promising young player a start or even a good run from the bench. I was a fan of Moyes when he was here but could never understand when we had a small squad that he didn't look to promote from within the club to try and improve the situation. The coaches like Kevin Sheedy and those before him must have been recommending players to the 1st team and basically being ignored, which makes them think what's the point.
If you put yourself in the shoes of a youth player it must have been quite scary knowing that when you got to 18 or 19 that was it at Everton when they may have been there from aged 14 or earlier. The choice was find a club lower down or go out of the game and this without being given a proper chance. That's a lot of pressure on a young kids shoulders.
It would be good to know how the situation has changed under RM and how much he is looking at the young players in the academy and aiding their development. Hopefully it has.

Thats just the thing.

Nobody knows where Ross would be now in terms of progress if he wasnt loaned to Sheff Wed, clearly the Leeds loan didnt work out, at the same token nobody knows how Seamus would have progressed if he wasnt loaned to Blackpool and didnt play Right Wing for a Season.

Look I dont wanna "defend" Moyes, but I feel as tho people use the wrong sticks to beat him with, he "ruined" our YOOTH, Jose Baxter would be Messi if MOYLES played him, the facts are, the players that were good enough played, Jack Rodwell, Wayne Rooney, James Vaughan, Victor, the players who werent didnt and are now making a career for themselves in the lower leagues.

Lets be honest, its not like Martinez is using the Yooth all the time, clearly hes giving Ross more gametime, but does anybody know that Moyes wouldnt have given Ross his break out season this year? Sure we can all guess, but thats it really.

As I say, our youth policy is only different due to Martinez giving the younger lads more game time at other clubs, which is a great move for the club and also gives the young uns some much needed games at a level higher than the U21s.

But its not like hes playing them all the time at Everton.
