Sheedy on Moyes

Hmmm...interesting that Sheedy deleted some of his tweets because he also left a few up there that are worse as far as I can see. Someone said to him, "Ha ha heard you didn't like moyes and he wasn't interested in youth players", to which Sheedy replied "Correct on both counts Gary"

And when someone else says:"I think it was painfully obvious that Moyes had no faith in youth. Must of done your head in, Sheeds!" He replied, "yep David he did."

Yes?

Coleman - a no mark in a no mark league.

Ouch. First off, Coleman was 21, hardly a youth. Secondly, he was by far the best talent in a league that was then sending a lot of players to England. he was well known to all the scouts and Everton were lucky to get him. Docherty did well here. Maybe the youth team wasn't producing a lot of great talent, but being ignored by the first team boss hardly would have helped. Looks like Moyes did very little to help the academy but was quite willing to soak up the praise when a gem came through. I can see why Sheedy might be frustrated. As for whether he should have ranted on twitter, thats another question.

Don't cry because people are criticising Moyes. He deserves it after the way he conducted himself in the summer.

He said "Roberto would learn how it works at Everton" when he refused to sell Fellaini after a derisory bid. We all fumed.

What happened:
We did sell the player at the last minute for a high fee
Roberto wasn't able to sign any players until that high fee was received.
We ended the season with a negative net spend.

In other words that is how Everton works.

If you are going to "hate on" people at Everton it should be the owners/executives who are stopping us competing rather than ex-managers who took us from 16th to 6th.

Yeah, we did well with our big money move for him (y)

Ultimately I think it comes down to this, Moyes doesn't like to take risks. He would much rather stick to who he knows and who he can trust. When he was at Everton he would sooner play a senior player out of position than stick a younger player in. David Moyes pint is very much half empty rather than half full. He has let this negativity set in his ways.
Before their game against Liverpool he was saying that Liverpool were favourites for the match. Even if he thinks that he should never come out with it publicly, no wonder he gets stick for being negative. I'm side tracking here anyways, Martinez had got a totally different mindset when it comes to youth. He knows the only way that they are likely to kick on is giving them first team experience. He accepts they will make mistakes and that's part of their development, He is thinking for the long term were as Moyes was thinking for the short term, we all know Moyes wanted out even from the season before when he were flirting with Spurs.

I think Sheedy is right in what he's saying, but wrong to say it. Social media naivety maybe.

Weird argument on Coleman above - he's an example of Moyes' genius in the transfer market and a super effective scouting system rather than his development of youth, as simply put Coleman wasn't a youth player.

In terms of academy progression to the first team, Moyes was very obviously an out and out failure. You can't blame the facilities, you can only blame the people who can effect the system, and Moyes was the head guy in that regard. Even the odd one who made the squad never stayed long enough to actually develop, as it was a case of either "one mistake and you're gone" or "as soon as Phil Neville is fit again you can do one".

He was a naturally negative manager who distrusted youth.

I was under the impression it was a last minute deal over Fellaini when he said he wished to go to Man U

Some living up to the 'bitter' tag here.

Wouldn't shake the groundsman's hand is probably the best yet.

I hear he snarled at Joyce, the cleaning lady on 21 December 2010. Bang out of order, right before Christmas. Ruined her Christmas it did.

Our Bobby gave Joyce some Paella on his first day like.
Bitter? sorry what is that? I have stuck up for Moyes a helluva a lot in the past, i have no bad feelings towards him going to Manchester United, in fact i wish him all the luck in the world.

I also have been on record as saying that without him we would not be as a good state as we are in, but yes.. bitter okay.

When you have a team of people working under you, you should make them ALL feel like they are important, worth something. That is what a good leader does. It's not just about on the pitch, the other stuff comes with it too.

The fact Martinez has spoken more to some of the staff who have been there longer than Moyes has in one year than Moyes did in ten, speaks volumes. That is what i am saying, do not be blinded by your wanting to go against the grain by sticking up for Moyes, by saying i am bitter, the truth is very different.

This sounds like a terrible rip off of 'A Christmas Carol'

we did, but all it does is reinforce Sheedys claims that Moyes ignored the youth setup. Is your point that he could afford to ignore the youth set-up because he had good scouts?

Well, Moyes has been accused of not giving youth a chance, or as you put it, 'ignored the youth setup'. Coleman was brought up as a matter of convenience really given the weekend, as was Stones for his weekend performance.

The point is, Moyes gave those two youths a chance. Coleman, a young who just two years prior was playing amateur football. In his first full Everton season Moyes gave the lad 40 appearences.

Then Stones, January deadline day - fans expectant. We make one signing, a teenager from Barnsley for £3m. Clearly, another youngster Moyes is giving a chance.

Green? Our youth team captain? Bought for potentially £3m?

Then look at the local talent our academy has 'nurtured'. I named John Irving as an example, this lad, right back, local lad came through the academy - reserve captain, reserve player of the year two years on the spin - Moyes let him go. If he was good enough, he would have done the business elsewhere? Plenty of those examples, none of an academy player being let go to do anything significant elsewhere.

So is it Moyes ignoring the youth setup or the youth setup just not producing the good? To say it's all Moyes in my opinion is bitter and blinkered.
