martinez finished his first season in charge as expected, he achieved a top 6 spot and qualified for europe which is expected, anything less would be a failure considering the above.

to allow martinez a chance could send us backwards for the next 10 years and undo all the good work moyes and co done.

you may criticise spurs, or chelsea, or man city or liverpool for sacking their managers for 1 bad season, but hey there's a reason they are constatntly in the top 5-6 every year most of the time, because they stop the rot before it causes even more damage.

we could learn a thing or two about being ruthless. Why should a current successful everton side allow a person who has spent 28 million on a striker a chance to redeem himself? most clubs wouldn't if he has flopped like he has.

the mentality these days is atrocious. Its more like a 'well give a good shot and hopefully we can have a good season love', wheres the warrior mentality, where the passion and dedication of lets do these in boys, lets smash them off the park, the mentality that chelsea and city possess.

We are no longer the prem league's whipping boys that we were 14-15 years ago yet we seem to have that mentality now and martinez is the cause of it and something needs to be done about it before we end up becoming the next leeds, or the next sheffield united. or the next nottingham forest.

Pretty much every paragraph above there is conjecture by you Spud being put forward as fact.

1 - A large amount of the fanbase had no idea what to expect of Martinez first season. I think at the end of last summer they would have said he exceeded most expectations, and I think it is a bit of a leap to say anything less than top 6 and Europe would have been seen as a failure. Perhaps to you, but not to many.

2 - Yes to allow Martinez a chance COULD set us back. It COULD also be a huge success after a poor season, or it COULD be average after we survive this season and he goes anyway the next. We don´t know, you seem to be basing your position on the basis we will be relegated if he stays, which you can´t know.

3 - Cmon...the reason, above all else, that those teams are near the top is because of money as is clearly shown in the spend vs final league position tables over the last god knows how many years of the prem league. We don´t have the comfort blanket of all that money, so as Moyes did and Martinez seems to want to do...we will need to work differently. Of course we dont know yet how that will work out with the latter , but we can´t get into a cycle of start from scratch with new players and managers every bad season.

4 - How are we currently successful? We are successful only in relation to spend and where our spend would be expected to take us. We are trophyless and dont finish top 4. We get close to it, look like we might, but fall short. Thats the club we currently are. So I don´t think we can have the arrogance to say we are a currently successful club and we can´t accept half a poor season from a manager who just provided us with a very good season and COULD, if we can get through this bad moment, provide a different way to bridge the gap we have struggled to bridge.

5 - The mentality of the team nowadays is poor, but how we look and perform now is not necessarily how we will look in a while...and it certainly isnt how we looked last season with the same players and boss.

2/3rds of the 800 voting are solid behind Martinez.

Plotters well and truly sent packing.

Another defeat tonight please Roberto. Just so we can show you how loyal we are to you.

Hoping for a defeat tonight and the end of yet another domestic trophy hunt, so it can give you the opportunity for more Martinez man love - truly barking.
