Maye Dave, but are we seeing that RM is a manager of limited ability as some one hinted at in another post. Over the games so far has there been a variation in tactics both before and during a game. In addition what his subbing been like, has it changed play, has it won game or saved a point.

Is it all smiles and little idea.
Limited ability? Do me a favour mate. He created a football club from nothing at Swansea and set up a dynasty there that they still thrive under; at Wigan he outwitted superior opposition and won them a trophy for the first time in their history; and with us in his only full season racked up our best ever points total and had us playing what most would consider (inside and outside the club) our best football for a generation.

It really is time this absolute horesh1t stopped now and his detractors piped the **** down. Give the man the respect he deserves and has earned.

Morning Dave. The points were put forward to promote a responsible debate for comment from both camps. With regard to your contribution then how is it performances this season have been largely poor which he seems incapable of addressing?

Do you have a Phd in rewriting history?

Skipped forward to page 32 after a 'no vote.'

I still believe in what he is trying to do, but I do get annoyed when he plays people out of position to stick to his rigid 4-2-3-1 this season. The left of the 3 is always filled by an unsuitable player because we don't have anybody.

He comes out and says we probably won't do much in the window, an extra wide player who can play left, or ideally, both wings should be top of the list. Barkley isn't that player.
Very much this.

Such an awful subject for a thread, and I despair for those who have voted to sack Martinez. Any manager coming in needs to be given time to ride out rough patches of form, especially where injuries have taken a toll. This is not to say that Martinez has not made mistakes, because he certainly has: but give the man three seasons FFS. He's made some questionable transfers, but he is on a shoestring budget compared to the teams we expect to be overtaking in order to achieve third or fourth place and he's put a handy-looking young spine into place: Stones, McCarthy, Besic, Barkley and Lukaku are all classy players. Coleman, Baines, Oviedo, Mirallas and possibly Garbutt will also all contribute more in the coming months.

The big question is can Martinez effectively replace / upgrade Howard, Jags, Distin, Gibson, Barry, McGeady, Pienaar, Atsu, Naismith and Eto'o? We have some young talent coming through, but you can't just promote five of them to the starting lineup en masse, and in some positions we don't appear to have anyone putting their hand up - the wings are a massive concern, and if we are going to persist with a 4231, we need two pacy wingers (at least one of which can also play 10) in January IMHO.... who they might be is another question entirely.

Hear hear Dave.

Progress is never in a straight line and I'm sure RM is learning a lot about himself and his players in this difficult period.

Clearly he has a plan in terms of the development of the team and the style of football we play. The application and the benefits of this are not currently what we would wish, but the man has earned the time to see it through to fruition.

We're not going to get relegated, and yes we'd like to be league wise where we where this time last year but we must keep faith in him .

We can write off this season, we won't be in trouble but we aint getting europe unless he gets us firing like last season by January.

So this is the acid test for Martinez, a good manager will sort this out, he has the players, that's a very good squad he's got, I'm just seeing no progress so far and I think we should be by now, play Barkley deeper and in the centre FFS would be a good start.

Kopites are having a blast watching how 21% of evertonians are turning their jackets...disgusting
With the way we've played this season, and the results we've had recently, I think we've taken 9 points from 30.

Factor in the kneejerking and I think for Bobby to be polling nearly 80% shows just what good fans he's got behind him.

I'm prepared to give him till the end of the season, if he's as good as we think he is then we have nothing to worry about, it's just as the weeks go by there are still no signs of any progress for me.

I remember going to see Newcastle around xmas time the year they went down. I was up there for a weekend and nothing to do. What Worring is the similarities. They were rubbish. The famous atmosphere was nowhere to be scene. It was dead just like second half goodison. The players looked rudderless. The fans thought they were too good to go down as they thought there was worse below them. They were wrong..... Forget bout tactics. Our managers philosophy of winning back the ball and intensity is a joke. I could manage the reserves at a night game at goodison with a pissed off crowd and a bad ref and win. He can't tap into that. Muppet.

Yeah sorry, i meant the Evertonians that can see and are not happy with the durge Martinez is serving up.
Sticking with Barry, dropping Besic, playing Barkley out wide, Lukaku forced to play with his back to goal...the list goes on & on.
Good players, wasted. Unless of course you think they are not good players.
If you think they are good players and are not playing for the shirt then who's fault is that ?

Ah, I get it.....you mean REAL Evertonians want the manager sacked. Sorry, I didn't realise the players were performing so well at the moment.
What is it with football fans that they can't understand that teams/players/managers have periods of poor form? Besic was ill. On paper that was a good side yesterday....on the field it was the opposite. Barkley has had more poor games than good games irrespective of where he's played, likewise Lukaku. The first thing you need, irrespective of what position they play, is for the players to give 100% for everything in the RBJ, but recently that's not been the case.

Unreal mate.

'We're not doing what we did last season. Sack him NOW! *stamps feet*"
I'm inclined to agree. While obviously things simply aren't good enough at present, surely we must recognise that we've had a ton of injuries, and when coupled with what may simply be bad form, results have taken a dip.

Was angry yesterday, but having slept on it, this is bad bad knee jerking.

I agree he needs to do something to correct this though. It isn't good enough.

Dont flatter a rump of our support with that description. There is no two camps. Just the vast majority of rational thinkers where this manager is concerned and a few dissenting voices in the wilderness.
