Accidents are a "holes in a swiss cheese" chain of events. If you enforce one hole to be slightly smaller then there's less chance of them all lining up.

Eating cheese while driving is a bit wreckless and should be banned.

You're right mate, I've had a few close calls...had to slam on once when I get distracted whilst topping off a Jacobs and brie with a nice apple and cranberry chutney. My Cote du Rhone went everywhere!

I think it is because its 7 more every billion miles/KM. Which while that is 70% more, its still "just" 7. One bad minibus crash could be the actual difference. And a billion miles is an awful lot of miles.

It's true, the probability of death on the road is extremely low, therefore effective regulation and individual driver responsibility are of negligible value. This is the Chinese perspective to driving anyway!

As much as I'd love to be able to cruise down the motorway at 88mph allowing for the 10% wiggleroom I reckon there would be a huge increase in fatalities because the idiots that are dangerous at 70mph are going to be more dangerous at 80mph.
Also, with high fuel prices at the moment it'll far more expensive to cruise at a higher speed so I'd probably stick to around 75mph anyway.
