You could well be right mate, plus nothing would suprise me with this board funding wise, thing is, atm we look set for a few years in goal and at the back - even if baines does leave, mid looks strong with maybe 1 or two additions so honestly think we need to get that sorted asap, bring in the likes of a tadic, bring in nathko for free from russia (possibly mcgeady too although im not a fan seems likely it will be done), and with gibbo back in the summer and hopefully Lundstram devloping at yoevil ccoming back ready for first team footy next year the mids set for years to come, leaving all our efforts to focus on getting in that front man we desperately need

I've seen Nahkto play once, I know you know the russian league well and he seems like he's decent on the ball, and for a free i'm sure he'd be worth bringing in? what do you think of him. I do like Mcgeady myself, don't get me wrong i'm not going to rave about him but he never seems scared of taking people on, and with the way we play i think he'd fit right in and cause a lot of trouble bringing him on or even starting to wear players out.

With regards to next year i think we'll have a few million saved away for targets and i'm sure it'll be different types of targets depending on where we finish. If we get europe i think we'll get a bit of a high profile striker in.

What people do need to clock on to is we don't really need a 'natural finisher' or 'poacher' that's not how we play, and under martinez we won't play like that. What we need is a player who is strong and technically gifted, our striker plays more as a player who helps bring the midfield and wingers into the game, holding the ball and laying it off. So we need a striker who is good with his back to goal but can also pick a decent pass. Obviously finishing is still important but i think those previous traits are more important for the way we play! who is out there that plays like that, i'm not sure, not for me to decide!

Think bobby is playing the game on this one....

Get the pre-contract sorted first, which makes him our player come summer regardless. Then await for spartak to basically give him away in January to us to get him out the door. He's not really wanted there anymore, bobby getting a pre-contract sorted takes away there power in setting prices for him.

He'll be here by the end of jan IMO!

Was thinking exactly the same myself. Whether it's correct or not I don't know but your points seem very valid to me as a fan.
I know it's the whole "it's never gonna happen" but how perfect would Rooney be in this team as star striker with Barkley just off him!

Would be brilliant mate. I do think he'll come here before his career is over though.

I rate Nahtko very highly mate, he's one of the best players in the russian leagues imo and one that would adapt to the english game very well, wouldn't look out of place in the Arsenal midfield is probably the highest compliment i could give him and would be a big asset in building towards the way martinez wants us to be zipping the ball around as he's got a great first touch and technique but isn't lightweight and can put himself about a bit too, also a decent set piece man but think thats less a factor now with baines and barkley doing their thing, not gonna say he'd have the impact that barry and mccarthy had but would definitely cover for the loss of gibson and also provide something we lack, a creative centre mid who can get those through balls onto lukaku/mirrales/delefou etc

Totally agree on the type of forward we need, think mobility and putting himself about a bit is the key as well, lukaku covers a lot of ground as did kone for wigan so need someone in the similar style, Barca light type in many ways, although roberto seems to favour a more physical type than works in the spanish league, thinking about it Llorente would have been ideal but out our league money wise at the time
