Silly Season January 2014

but if he is ITK, driving him away would be quite unfair

How so mate? I know people love insider knowledge, but GrandOldTeam has never advertised or professed to be an ITK site and offers no preferential treatment to those that claim it, right or wrong.

GrandOldTeam is supposed to be a sound place where respectful debate is held. This sort of hit and run posting style has totally missed the main thread that all other rumours are placed in and has instead created a new thread where after probably a small amount of silence, blues will start going nuts at each other at the lack of "not knowing", which is quite ironic for an ITK thread.

Just my opinion, so I've alerted the other admin for a joint decision.

Never seen the lad play so can't comment really. But you have to wonder that if McCarthy, Alcaraz, Joel, Kone AND McArthur weren't at fault for Wigan going down, well, the list of whose fault it was is getting a bit thin.

I like him. I watched a lot of McCarthy for Wigan and McArthur often stood out also. He is a good allrounder even if he doesn't particularly excel at any one part of the game. Decent squad backup in midfield and not afraid to get forward and shoot. He is tigerish like McCarthy also and we would see close to the same energy levels.

This signing is a-ok by me, and I trust in Bobby compleeeeeteley as he has earned it.

I get the feeling some of the fuming will be because people will worry what fans of a certain other team will say.

Bobbys building his squad guys. Eventually - due to age or ability - Distin, Naismith, Vellios, Gueye, Pienaar, Hibbert and Heitinga need to move on and be replaced. Maybe even Gibson too depending on how long he lasts when he next comes back from injury.

Other people are fuming as we are close to 4th, well I'm afraid most of the signs, and the words from the man himself, suggest he is not going blow money now just to gamble on 4th. He is working long term.

Not quite that simple is it?

Alcaraz was out for the majority of last season wasn't he? That's just him covered.

Kone got how many goals?

McCarthy has already proved his worth this season.

Not always black and white.

I dont get the snobbery over this. He's a good passer and solid tackler and would slot right in ahead of McCarthy and Barry when Ross is out....he also offers us cover out wide right. He's played basically the role Coleman has before so, if SC is out, he could step in for the Derby if this is correct and is sorted in time.

ok, im sold.

But seriously like, wouldnt mind this at all. Sign him up Bobby

If they are for the most part back up players, we then have a predominately lower premier league/upper championship bench. I can't see any harm in that.

This thread is very similar to the McCarthy one

****ging the lad off and crying about signing a Wigan player
