Silly Season January 2014

Martinez wants to get the deals done early. Whether or not the people who are in charge of getting them done will do so is a different matter.

The money should be there to allow him to move early if he needs to. There can be a number of good deals to be had near the end of the window though when agents start putting pressure on clubs / players to get deals done - particularly in a World Cup year when all players want to be playing and for players who are out of contract at the end of the season

Benteke could be the one we go for, for next season.

I wouldn't say no but a bad season for him wouldn't stop Villa wanting top whack for him!. And IF you had the choice, and obviously IF we had the money, who would you have for £20m, Lukaku or Benteke?.

chelsea in for a defender called Zouma

Kurt Zouma, very higly rated CB and be surprised if only Chelsea are in for him, only young but like Lukaku, a beast for there age!.

Today's Sky Sports

''Schalke centre-back Joel Matip has been of the Bundesliga club’s shining lights this season and reports suggest he is attracting a lot of interest. Everton and Monaco have both been linked with January moves for the Cameroon international, although he remains under contract in Germany until 2016 and it is thought that that he would be reluctant to move midway through the season and would prefer to wait until the end of the campaign to consider his future.''

Matip is decent but I'd prefer there other defender, that Greek lad im not even gonna attempt to spell his name! :D

So how much do people think we have to spend in Jan then?. Just a question cos im sure people's values will vary.

...I prefer rumours to asperations so dipped into the Rumours site and picked a few that at least looked like they had a little substance;
Granit Xhaka; Josif Husbal; Ryan Bertrand; Will Hughes; Bruno Martind Indi.

....I think some are because RM has shown previous interest at Wigan, but the last 3 were specifically identified by the Everton page editor.

It's not really the money that's the issue mate. He isn't the one who actually goes out there and gets the players, he gives the people above him a list of players he wants and the rest is left up to them. We have multiple agents working for us and that's really how it goes. The list goes to the board, the board goes to the agents and the agents act as the go between.

It's known were crappy to work with but Martinez certainly knows his targets. The rest is up to the backroom 'team' working on them.

He's not that bad, be a good replacement for Distin in the future IMO.

How old is Vucinic these days, 29, 30 or slightly older?. Cracking player but will be worth a bit and I wouldn't want us to go spend a fair bit on a 29, 30 year old again.

Turned 30 in October.

Heard its much better dealing with Everton now since Martinez is there, under Moyes, not so much.
