Silly Season January 2014

In what way am I suggesting it's like FM? I've seen him play actual games and not on a computer game and there's no reason money for a fee shouldn't be there

As mentioned above there's a couple of reasons the money isn't there.

1) It's used to service debt.
2) If there is any it appears he's waiting 'til summer to get who he wants. Rightly or wrongly.

I'll be amazed if we bring anyone in, apart from recalling Duffy when Heitinga goes.

I'd agree here.

I'm quietly confident that we will bring in a good 10M midfielder on deadline day, I think injuries and derby defeat will force bills hand ;) *taps nose*... (Joking I'm not ITK I will koff now cya)

Don't think there's any chance of a 10M midfielder tbh mate. I do think we will bring one in but more than likely a foreign loan. If we spend any money I think it will be either on a striker or a young cheap CB.

I'm still holding faith that we will see 1-3 players coming in before deadline passes. Suppose it all depends who's available.

I'd agree here.

I get that but we need players now and I'm suggesting Mitroglou could be perfect for us. Who cares if he'll cost a couple of million more to get him now than in the summer. The rewards for success would more than cover that and we effectively got more in than expected ourselves from the sales of Vic and Jelavic.

If people are just going to be dismissive of potential transfer suggestions which should be achievable then we might as well just say the only ones that can be discussed are loan transfers or really cheap deals.

The money should be there. Tv deal more than covers our previous annual losses

There will be absolute mayhem if we don't spend big in summer. A Walton Jihad.

Whilst our loan policy has been a huge success, we're all very aware how much money we have received in transfer fees over the last two season. In theory, we should have £20+ million in surplus. Not to mention any of that err 'profit' from the increased TV revenue. Lolz.

Hope it's not been 'ringfenced' Bill, lad (strokes machete)..
Anyway, if the new Joseph & the Technicolour Dreamcoat performance in the West End is 3D with a guest cameo from A. Kone then we know what's happened to the cash..

(p.s. 'Where's the Everton money, Bill?' etc etc..)

Your suggesting he "Might" be perfect.....Why his he going Fulham then not the teams fighting it out near the top? What if he's rubbish?? 12.5M gone!! Until we can try and move him on. If we spend 12.5M we have to be pretty sure he's gonna be great!!

Seriously some would have us sign anyone as long as it means were spending money!!

P.S I'm 90% sure IMO, that come summer lukaku will be available for us to buy. None of us know for sure either way but if that is the case I don't want some random over priced striker coming in. We would have to save the money to get lukaku.

We'll see but I'm 90% sure that if Lukaku leaves Chelsea in the summer he'll move to a club playing champions league football

I also don't agree with the whole "if he was better he'd be linked with better teams" attitude. We were the only team bidding for McCarthy in the summer.

Hmmm maybe.

Put it this way, if money was there. And if Martinez wanted him. We'd be in for him.

We're not though.

Fair enough. I just think this is going to be yet another missed opportunity and either Martinez or the club is taking the wrong approach if we don't do all we can to strengthen

Nothing new mate. Doesn't make it right of course.

As for the player you mentioned. Why he's choosing Fulham is beyond me.

Everton are showing interest in a loan deal for Marseille's Tunsian international striker Saber Khalifa.

The Toffees have already brought in striker Lacina Traore from Monaco on loan during the window but Roberto Martinez has recognised the need for further reinforcements after Romelu Lukaku picked up an ankle injury during Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Liverpool.

Khalifa, 27, signed from Evian in the summer and has played 20 matches for Marseille, scoring just one goal.

I think it's the second thing ijjy mentioned. That's what I think is being done with the previously player sales money (I think tv revenue is going to the debt considering Martinez has mentioned multiple times that we are more stable financially).

He may not even be waiting in targets to save money( although definitely a factor). Perhaps his targets are unavailable right now and won't be sold in the window. Quality players won't move midseason unless they are unsettled/unhappy were they are(ex. Cabaye at Newcastle and mata at Chelsea), particularly months before a World Cup. I just don't think his long term targets are available to him this window. I may be completely wrong though as the only people who know are RM and the club. That's why I'm going to wait and see
