Everton are showing interest in a loan deal for Marseille's Tunsian international striker Saber Khalifa.

The Toffees have already brought in striker Lacina Traore from Monaco on loan during the window but Roberto Martinez has recognised the need for further reinforcements after Romelu Lukaku picked up an ankle injury during Tuesday's 4-0 loss to Liverpool.

Khalifa, 27, signed from Evian in the summer and has played 20 matches for Marseille, scoring just one goal.

o gomes yesterday and this guy today.courtesy of the ever reliable daily mail
Would much prefer Gomis. That being said don't know much about Khalifa that 1in 20 record puts me off. Gomis is consistent

We'll see but I'm 90% sure that if Lukaku leaves Chelsea in the summer he'll move to a club playing champions league football

I also don't agree with the whole "if he was better he'd be linked with better teams" attitude. We were the only team bidding for McCarthy in the summer.

Think that's a bit different mate. Where do you go above Everton? It's the very top ie CL , title winning teams and most likely the sub bench! There's also the whole RM affect when it came to McCarthy.

I feel Lukaku will be absolutely brilliant in 2 or 3 years.

However I only want us to splash out for him if he comes back from injury as his old self. If he comes back and plays like the Lukaku we've seen in the past 2 months then there's no way I want us to be spending around £20m on him. Too much of a risk.

As I say though I do think he'll be quality.

Nothing mate.

Even in the gossip columns we don't get a mention.

We have a press conference at 9am. I imagine Martinez will be grilled about transfers then. But I can see him saying that our business is over. Sadly.

That's what I feared....... *Hold me

There's nothing wrong with him lid, so the injury means nothing. Probably sore bones and a slight ligament strain. He'll be right as rain by end of Feb.

He's only 20 remember, and he's been ace for us. Some lucky cart of a team will get him for 20m and it'll be a fantastic deal.

Probably be the RS.
