Everton boss Roberto Martinez will make a personal check on Dundee United duo Andrew Robertson and John Souttar.

Martinez’s spies have told him to move for the talented young pair and the Goodison chief is now heading north to see them.

The Spaniard is planning to see left-back Robertson - a possible long-term replacement for Leighton Baines - and centre-half Souttar next week.

Martinez will run the rule over the two prospects against Hibs, the day after Everton play in the FA Cup v QPR.

hope not, the lack of quality in Scotland and the signings of jelavic and Naismith alongside seeing flops like Wilson (to Liverpool), hooper etc. come over and flop sorry not for me spend on young foreign talent.

Yep, young foreign talent that will cost triple/quadruple the amount.

Don't worry, Martinez will sort them out eventually. Though McCarthy represents Ireland, he is a Scot in every practical sense. Trained under Martinez for a couple of yrs and he become a good PL player. As long as there are cheap young talents over there, no reason not to have a shoot.

Like Gueye, velios and Juao you mean?

With West Ham interested in Jelavic.

I would take James Tompkins from them.

Good footballer, playing ion completely the wrong system for him.

In recent times mccarthy is the only decent player to come from the spl on the other hand:

alan hutton, craig gordon, whittaker, jelavic, naismith, wilson, Boyd, caldwell, mcmanus, mcdonald, hooper

All average to crap and thats just off the top of my head, for the price them young lads will go for you could chance it abroad and try find a bargain like:

Cabaye £4 mil, Michu £2 mil, arteta £2 mil, benteke £7 mil I remember us being linked with that piatti lad for £2 mil who has done well for valencia this season, look at the lad for that Spanish team we faced pre season who they got on a free etc. I would much rather we tried plucking a talent from abroad that take the higher risk from the spl.
