I’ve just finished my 12 yr old Glenmorangie nectar d’or which was amazing. Smooth, with notes of toffee, vanilla and white chocolate.

I’m keen to try an Islay malt next but I’m unsure of what to get. I like a bit of smoke but I don’t want to be overpowered by it. So I’m looking for smoothness with a hint of smoke

Any suggestions?

Laphroaigh 10 ...let that medicinal hit overwhelm you then you won't need anything else.

Laphroaigh (15) and Caol Ila are two of my favourites, Laphroaigh 10 can be a bit harsh medicinally for some. Bowmore do some great flavours for a first time Islay taster.

Smokehead for the smokier and off the Islay a Glenfiddich 18 please.

What's your opinion on the Laphy 1/4 cask?....
