Priced similarly as the Oban 14 here in Australia. You able to compare? Might try this 16 next as I think it is time for some variety. All Oban can't be be good now!
Edit. Interesting, reading some reviews it is highly recommended, with a smoky peaty flavour

I always think Caol Isla is an underrated peaty malt. They're both lovely, but not particularly similar. For me they're two of the best examples of their respective styles.
Lagavulin is one of the super peaty South Islay triumvirate along with Laphroaig and Ardbeg, but it's smoother, richer and more complex than either. It's closer to Ardbeg Uigeadail than either of the ten yo expressions from its neighbours.
One of my favourite drams tbh. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Thanks for this. I should experiment with a more peaty flavour. On the to do listThey're both lovely, but not particularly similar. For me they're two of the best examples of their respective styles.

I hear you. I normally like them smooth and sweet. I've had a whiskey leave a lingering, burning charcoal taste in the past which has put me off.Laphroaig 10yo cask strength would be another recommendation in the Lagavulin 16/Ardbeg Uigeadail price bracket if you get into peaty malts. It can be a bit overwhelming on the palate neat, mind. I add a fair bit more water to it than I normally would. Batch 3 was one of the nicest whiskies I've tasted though despite that.
