Sir Landon Of Donovan

How long was his stint in Germany? He managed to live out there and he was only a kid (if I remember rightly) and it's not like we haven't made him feel at home his previous visits. To use an American phrase, "it's a no-brainer!"

If he plays for 3-4 more years (at Prem level -- he might do a retirement stint with MLS) then spending 3 years in a place which isn't your home is a different prospect than being 19-20 and wondering if you can spend ten+ years in that place. He's also spent time here already so knows what to expect. Money helps homesickness a lot too and he has some of that.

Get him signed! None of this January nonsense. Where's the Yobo money etc?
I do think waiting for January is missing the point a bit, getting him signed early helps us earlier, hence increasing the likelihood of an improved start to the season, waiting until January may be too late, you never know. I hope we at least make an attempt to get him now and if we fail now then try in January, but we'll see.

Also, culturally, it's not like he's going to live in Germany, Spain or Italy, the language is the same and there can be strong comparisons drawn with American and English culture, we embrace all things American here as well so he won't miss US mod-cons, He also has good friends over here, so I don't think he'll suffer homesickness too much.

Exactly my point, Tim Howard is bessies with him, El Capitan has the twitter flirting thing and he knows everyone inside the club and everyone wants him back. If he doesn't come soon he will go down as the best American player of his generation who never tested himself at the top level (for any length of time) and I think that would be something he'd look back on and regret.

This might impact a bit

Not just Tim. Stuart and Euan Holden live in Manchester. Now Tim Ream is also in the area.

I would absolutely like to come back. There’s no question about that. And I know I will be back at some point. Now, whether I'm back as a player or just as a fan, who knows?
I miss the people. I miss the people a lot. I miss driving to Goodison Park. I miss just the positive energy of the fans walking into the stadium and how much they care about that club and the team.

And I miss the players a lot. The players are really what made it easiest for me when I first went.

Right now, my focus is obviously on this season and qualifying for the World Cup. It's a big, really important year, and then we'll see what happens. I've always said the same thing: I'll see how my body feels, I'll see how I feel mentally, I'll see where the Galaxy are at and what they’re okay or not okay with and then we'll make a decision. Obviously a big part of it too is whether David Moyes wants me. There is a lot of factors that go into it. I don't see it as a foregone conclusion that I'll be physically okay to go, the Galaxy would let me go and that Everton would want me. You have to make sure all of those aligned and if it all works out, then it works out and if not, then it doesn’t.

I'll be forever indebted because with a lot of teams' guys there would be jealousy, they wouldn't be welcoming, and they would do everything they can to not allow you to get on the field in that couple of months - but it was the opposite when I first got there (Everton) and I will always remember that

Look at them quotes. How could you not love the guy? Quality player, superb professional, heart of gold. Would love him back.

IMO he's the missing piece for us having a VERY strong first 11.

I seriously would think top 4 a possibility with him and pienaar on our wings. Several very good plays fighting it out for the central spots, a solid defense and the main man jelavic banging them in!!

Any new stuff from lcab concerning Landon?

Not really apart from him pestering landy about coming home on twitter!
Lcab has pretty much always stuck to he'll be here in Jan but this time perminate deal.

I imagine the ball is in the MLS's court really as when they want to let him go... Donovan is gonna need a break at some point tho he's been playing non stop for quite a while. I suppose if we get in Jan it's not the end of the world.. But would much prefer a summer deal. He would also ease the worry of a jelavic injury being able to play up top... Get shudders thinking of Vic leading the line!

If we do wait till January at least he'll have a break after the MLS season and would then be able to drop straight into the team when Pienaar goes to the African Nations. That said, screw the MLS, get it done now.

A front four of...

Donovan Naismith Pienaar
Jelavic

On paper, has the potential to do major damage with Gibson and Fellaini protecting the back four and dictating play. As someone said, with him on board, our first 11 will be strong!
