I'd rather get M'Baye Niang from Caen, 17 - young, fresh, exciting with a resale value.

I don't think Landon's agent will allow him to leave for a club like Everton without securing a long-term future - look at van Persie at Arsenal.
I haven't seen enough of Landon Donovan at a high-enough level to warrant a move which will eventually cost us £15m in the long run. I watch a lot of MLS on both my computer and and ESPN, but for crying out loud - David Beckham is one of the best players in the league and he's 37.
It's all well and good saying "It's gonna work for two seasons, quick success" - but you also have to look at the long term financial restraints it's going to put on the club and whether it's actually really worth it.
I'd have him, but only at the right price.

Ok look at it this way.
Landon Donovan signs in, aged 30. 5 year deal at £50k p/w (around £2.6m a year).
So it's £5m + (£2.6m * 5) = £18m.
£18m for a player who we're gonna get about 2 good years from, and then for him to be unsellable.
No.
Not at all.

Or keep Anichebe on 35k a week which works out to cost us 9.1million...
Donovan is massively overrated by some people on this forum. He's a good player, I agree, but nowhere near as good as soon make him out to be.
I'd only be happy to buy him if he cost less than £2m and signed a 2-year contract at a max wage of £40k p/w.

I agree, although I'd stretch that to £3m and say he's a very good player, rather than plain good.
I honestly think if he signed permanently people would come down to earth a bit. In the long periods of absence in between his minuscule loan spells, some definitely exaggerate and glorify his contributions.
Still a cracking player mind, but Mirallas was the kind of player I wanted us to go for. Someone who's also attacking, versatile and pacey, but also young.
Depends on who we define as 'very good'. I'd say Baines and Fellaini are very good players and Donovan is not at that level.
Surprised at RFUS here, the lad started out in the bundesliga after all. I thought that was it all took to win his everlasting love.
