Sir Landon Of Donovan

you have to remember he will be 31 next year, and has never played 38 games at premier league level in 1 season, to start doing that for the first time in your career at 31 would be a massive challenge for any player.
not to mention the america internationals on top of that.

But surely if he were that good a player then it would be a challenge that he would relish

This.

It feels like he doesn't want to further his career by moving here. Instead of playing in the Premiership, and possibly the Champions League (one of the best leagues and one of the best club competitions in the world) he is choosing to stay in the MLS, a league where he knows he can do the business. Surely he'd want a new challenge, and surely he'd want it to be in PL and Europe? Isn't that the pinnacle for most footballers? If not then it does sound like he isn't interested in a positive career move, which questions his interest in football full stop

He's 30, played in 3 world cups and two of the best leagues in the world. I don't think furthering his career is really what his motivation is. He's past that.

And I'm not entirely sure he is "choosing" to stay in the MLS. It's much more complicated than that.

Oooh yeah....really cringe worthy.

Amazing to me that someone thinks that the truth is more "cringe worthy" than giving credence to opinions of people who don't even watch him play. You're welcome to shoot the messenger or how the message was delivered if you don't like it. I don't care too much about being diplomatic about it at this point.

For the record, could Landon come here and be absolute crap? Sure he could.

The point is that his current form based on observation of his play is good enough to where he would still contribute to Everton Football Club.

Rubbish. It has nothing to do with that.

You're a mod/admin whatever you are, you should be talking to people respectfully instead of saying things like 'move along' and saying your opinions are facts, it's antagonistic and not conducive to a good forum experience.

And as for 'I watch MLS every week'. Some people watch the Premier League every week and think Fellaini is average.

Landon Donovan's remarks basically optitimises everything which is wrong with professional footballers.

If he can constantly talk about how he "gets" Everton and how much he loves the club to get the fans on his side and then basically disregard their feelings then I don't want him.

Did I miss something?

This thread used to be boss...

Should be closed I think.. Nothing good is coming from it.

On Topic: I would love the FOD back, however we are making good moves and I have faith in DM.

p.s. If Landon chooses to give his last 3-4 good years to the MLS I will be disappointed..

if he stays in the states instead of us, it's a very sad indication of a lack of ambition. hoping we do get him back in jan though, very good player

All stars beat the european champions, mate. It's clearly the highest level of football in the world.

In all Seriousness I like the MLS and respect what it's trying to do but to say that it's on par with even top championship footy would be a bit of an exaggeration.
