Sir Landon Of Donovan

Ok so question....

Lets say (and this is highly probable) that Davie M is told he can sign one player in January...would you want it to be Donovan - proven as a direct positive influence in our team - or someone 'unknown' therefore with a higher risk of not aclimatising to the 'Everton' way e.g. that Ofoe lad?

I have to admit I do have a man crush on LD - mainly due to the fact that he doesnt just play well in our side - he does not shy away from publically telling the world that he loves us.

So lads, unknown quantity or LD?

Don't think we'll be interested in signing him permanently anymore, the most we can hope for is a loan. CM has to be our priority, I'd be surprised if we're not back in for Ofoe in January.

What makes you think this? The only way that the MLS will get a fee for him is through selling him before his contract finishes, and time is running out for them.

Everyone was fine with us spending 4.5million on a 30 year old Pienaar, so I don't see why people should view things any differently with a 30 year old Landon Donovan?

He still has a good three years in him, IMO.

I have no doubt that Donovan would become such a huge and influential player for us.

People cite his age, but even if we only got a couple of years out of him, he would still be money well spent IMO.

I think he would make a massive, massive difference.

He would improve the squad for a few years but i don't think he'd necessarily get in our first team anymore. I certainly wouldn't want us paying a fee for him.

His performances haven't decreased in quality at all, he is still as boss as he ever was. His stats are still amasing, and he is still the USA's best player by some considerable distance.

The only player who would come close to keeping Donovan out of the team is Mirralas, and he is nowhere near as effective as Donovan is on the right hand side.

Having Donovan on the RHS would see us turn a lot of these infuriating draws into wins, IMO. He would be a major player for us!

Were would he go thought it would have to be

Donovan. Mirallas. Pienaar
With fellani been pushed back to cm

There doesn't have to be a set 11 players who occupy a certain posistion every week. It could be how u say with Fellaini pushed back or mirallas on the bench to come on later or Donovan on the bench to come on and make the difference.

We need more quality options and Landon certainly is one of them. Would of prefered Donovan sat on the bench in the derby ready to come on at HT instead of having to bring a player of guaye's quality on.

It's not just about the first 11

Get him back permanently. Sorts out the right side of midfield brilliantly for a couple of years, letting Mirallas play behind the Jelavic and move Felli back into midfield just ahead of Gibson. That'd be a quality midfield with youth, experience, pace, flair, goals, versatility, good passing ability and strength in the middle. Immediate impact guaranteed from Donovan as well. No bedding in time.

Both. Even if we got two years out of Donovan, he'd give enough balance to the current team, provided we didn't lose anyone, to get us into that CL spot. The extra cash from CL football (both direct; tv money - and indirect; increased fan base), and the fact it would attract players to the club, would make it much easier to replace any players we might need to replace going forward.

I think we're good enough to just need those final pieces of the jigsaw, we've had enough building it's time for an end product now.

Fellaini
Donovan Pienaar
Mirallas
Jelavic

just imagine that.

Fellaini, Donovan and Pienaar are also somewhat interchangeable in that scenario, meaning we could play Fellaini in an advanced role if needed, without making a substitution.
