Sir Landon Of Donovan

Yeah but I'm one of the few people on here who doesn't want that.

My preferred team is Jelavic, Fellaini, Mirallas and Pienaar playing in front of Gibson and Osman/Barkley.

That team looks special no doubt. But you're forgetting you have to shoehorn Neville in there somewhere. Genuinely think he'll always play if fit.

If Fellaini plays CM, he definitely makes our best XI.

Definitely. But I do think Fellaini's best position is ACM now. His ability to receive the ball on the ground, on his head and on his chest and his exquisite ball control has allowed us to vary our play a lot and when we're at our best we're quite unpredictable. I don't know if it would be the right move to accomodate Donovan in the starting XI or not.

Hypothetically if we did get Donovan and no one else then I'd prefer to drop Fellaini back.

He wouldn't make our best 11 but he's a better cover for Mirallas and Pienaar than Naismith or Gueye would be.

If the terms are reasonable we should go for it. If they aren't, we'll survive.

I disagree mate.

Mirrallas wouldn't be keeping Donovan out of the team. One boss performance on the left hand side, and people are making out as if he is better than Landon Donovan.

I doubt that Mirallas' assist rate has ever been anywhere near that of Donovan's at any point in his career.

Put simply, Landon Donovan is a much better right midfielder than Kevin Mirrallas.

We'd be daft to drop Mirallas for Donovan if he came. I doubt it would happen any way.

We've just spent £5.5m on Mirallas and he's 5 or 6 years younger than Donovan. We need to build our team around players like that and not someone who is going to give us 2 or 3 years, as much as I love Donovan.

Right now I don't think there's very much between them but I expect Mirallas to become a better player than Donovan.

My logic is, if its a choice between Nev CM and Fellaini ACM, or Fellaini CM and Donovan ACM, its a no brainer. If we leave Fellaini ACM, we need a new CM. Gibson and Osman is very good, but we don't have any other decent options currently.

I'd rather play Mirallas than Donovan and I said the same before the derby game so it's not just knee jerking. Not that I don't rate Landon but I like Kev's direct style a lot and when there's two players at a similar level competing for a place I'd rather we play the younger one because then the team will get used to playing with him. It's the same with Hibbert and Coleman, I like Hibbo but since the quality is similar I'd rather play Seamus because he's more likely to improve and form partnershops that will still be their in five years time.

Donovan is a useful player to buy because he can cover all four attacking positions and he's better then the subs we currently have for Jelavic's, Pienaar's, Fellaini's and Mirallas' positions. But I wouldn't put him in the first team with everyone fit.

We have no idea what kind of player Hitzlsperger is right now to be fair. Or when Junior or Barkley will be ready for the first team.

Mirallas will have done very well for himself if he manages to eclipse the career of Landon Donovan. Donovan has been the USA's best player for a decade. He plays for the biggest club in America, and they don't want to get rid of him. His goal scoring and assist ratios have been immense for his entire career. As it stands, Mirrallas doesn't even get into his countries first team.

I can see Mirallas doing very well for himself, but I think it will be as a left winger. He is nowhere near as effective on the right hand side, and if he is going to eclipse Donovan as a right sided forward then he best get a move on because he has an awful lot of ground to catch up on. Look at their respective goal scoring and assist ratios, there is no comparison.

Donovan is a top, top player, and he would be far more effective for us on the right hand side than Mirallas IMO. The real question is whether he is better than Pienaar on the left?

Well I think it would be crazy to have Mirallas starting on the right ahead of Donovan.

I think Donovan provided more assists in 8 weeks then any other player in our squad did in the entire season last year. Or he wasn't far off, with perhaps Cahill and Pienaar getting one more than Donovan but they played far more football than him.

Mirallas was class on the left in the derby, but prior to that he hasn't shown much to get excited about on the right hand side. Our team would drastically improve with Landon on the right, just as it has done in each of Landon's two loan spells.

Two loan spells that were 8 weeks in duration, and yet the impact he had in each of them was massive. You don't find too many players who can come in and have the big an impact in such a short time. Donovan is a top, top player.

I think Get Nev Out The Starting XI should be the prime target for January. Get him out and get someone else in, whatever shape or form. Personally I don't think Moyes is going to put Fellaini back in CM now, he said at the end of the season that's how he sees him now and I don't think he'll go back on it. Plus a decent CM is usually cheaper than an attacking player.

I don't think Mirallas' international experience should bear much weight to be honest, the Belgian squad has a wealth of talent where as Donovan and Dempsey are two of the few stand out players for the US. Belguim are spoilt basically.

We've only seen Mirallas on the left hand side a couple of times, and as well as he did against she sh*te we can't forget the incredible partnership Pienaar and Baines have on that left side. The idea of moving Pienaar to the centre isn't a bad one but that means Fellaini would have to move back to CM, which is something that I cannot see happening unless there are a few injuries.

I'd love to see Mirallas on the left but I don't think putting Pienaar on the right (or even dropping him for Donovan) is going to happen, plus I think it would upset the balance of our team, it's tried and tested. As the saying goes, if it's not broken don't fix it.

At the end of the day that moment when you make that first cup of coffee in the morning tops anything Landon ever did for Everton so I don't really know why we're talking about him so much?

Fickle bunch, you are.
