Sir Landon Of Donovan

Well they won't have a problem in qualifying for their first tournament in 10 years then.

I think Donovan is the USA's best player, and I think Donovan is a better right winger than Mirallas.

You keep saying this, but they're top of their qualifying group.

You maybe right at present, although i haven't watched Donovan since February. But he won't necessarily be in the next year or 2.

They are joint top of their qualifying group. They may well make the next world cup, the point I'm making is that it is far from being guaranteed because they are not the footballing powerhouse that you think they are. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Belgium didn't qualify.

On the left, I'd say Mirallas is far superior to Donovan, however I think Mirallas has got an awfully long way to go before he starts eclipsing the performances of Donovan on the right. I also think that Donovan has got another 3 years of top quality performances in him.

Historically they're not a 'footballing powerhouse' but at present they have a hugely talented group of players. 10 years ago you wouldn't have described Spain as a 'footballing powerhouse' at all, now they're by far the best international team in the world.

Yes, and if Belgium go on to win a World Cup and a couple of European Championships then they will deservedly be held in a similarly high regard.

I'd wait until they actually qualify for a tournament first though.

Before you recognise they have talented players?

Before I start considering them as having one of the best international sides in Europe, never mind the world.

They have some good players, as do the USA, and I personally consider the USA's best player to be a better right winger than Kevin Mirallas.

Mirallas belongs on the left IMO.

Totally agree. Fellaini CM, Mirallas through the
middle (free role), Pienaar & Donavan either side.

However I think it would be rare to have all of those players fit, available & on form at the same time. There is more than enough space in the squad.

If you consider the USA to be on par with The Belgium team then you my friend should change your username to Joey Essex.

Football isn't played on paper, and whether you like it or not, the USA have a far better competitive record than Belgium over the past 10 years. It's all well and good having a wank over a teamsheet, but it means absolutely fack all if you can't even qualify for a tournament.

You're acting like Belgium would batter the USA 5-0 if they were to play each other in a competitive match right now, whereas I think a game like that would be a very close call.

Honestly, perhaps we should have this discussion if Belgium actually manage to qualify for their first tournament in over 10 years. Until then, they will remain European minnows with a shockingly bad record in recent times.

Came in to say this.

Why would you be comparing their records over the last 10 years though? We're talking about their current squads. US have a few players playing for decent teams. Belgium's squad is full of players playing for the top sides in Europe!
