Melodrama alert.

Between 1992-2002 we finished in the top 10 once - we escaped relegation on the last day of the season twice and used to be beaten by 4-5 goals every time we played a decent team.

In the last 10 years we've been outside the top 8 twice, finishing 11th and 17th and got the 5th most points of any club in the league.

The only thing that was good in the 1990's was winning the FA Cup. Other than that we were ****e.

Look at how depressing this place is after we dropped some points. Imagine if we were doing that every week.

True this. 2 almost dead cert relegations avoided on the last day. There can be no worse feeling in football in bricking it for the last few weeks of the season while facing likely relegation. Something many of our younger readers have yet to experience and as a result think that finishing 7th with no money is unacceptable.

I'm leaning towards finishing 7th behind Liverpool now - which consider how much better we were than them in the entirety of 2012 is pretty galling.

Didn't invest in January, threw away our chance at a fantastic (League) season.

Need to pray for an FA Cup miracle.

I,d take our league position over the carling cup all day long.
You'd take 6th place over winning a trophy that would mean you'd still be in Europe? That is just bizzare, surely success is judged on your honours list not league places 'Finished 6th in both 2007 and 2012' doesn't really have a good ring to it. We're Everton, one of the most successful clubs in England yet that is the height of your ambition for us? Also us finishing above Swansea is by no means guarenteed this season.

Then I'm clearly missing some subtle point.

Pretty much mate, yeah. Just wrote an essay about what it was but it's just going round in circles and has reached the "what is the point?" stage of things. Sure you're feeling the same way.

Let's just agree to disagree.

The owner said he was the best manager in the world and paid him millions over the last 11 years.....should bill go as well on the basis

This isn't about the "owner".

This is about the man whom is being paid a fortune by said "owner" for achieving next to sod all.

Well, when Moyes goes in the summer...most think that's what we'll have to get used to again.

is,nt it? If I hired you tommorow, and paid you millions for the next 11 years and I was forced to let you go, do you think i would be held accountable for that decsison to hire you and squander millions on you?

Yes we have some top class players. Our issue is we have so many holes/weaknesses around the park. David has 4 holes and at any one time only 2 plugs and other teams know this and play us accordingly.

It is all of it. The board, the money, manager attitude to some games, players not performing to their price tags. This is why there is always debate on GOT on this topic

And if you were the "owner", to whom would you be accountable, D410?

No one, that's who.

So forget about Bill.

We are debating Moyes and his managerial/coachinmg skills.

And he is leaving a lot to be desired in that department right now.

the board of directors old chum and shareholders

The entire team have cost us games this season. Jelavic not scoring chances due to form. Osman's fatigue. Pienaar's form. Coleman's early season naivete. Neville being...Neville. Jagielka, Distin, Heitinga all at fault for goals. Gibson not tracking players. Fellaini losing his men in the box.

Every single one of them culpable for mistakes. So its not a good excuse. Some of these players need a rest.

Vellios should have progressed this season. He scored 4 premier league goals last season FFS

Totally forgot about Duffy too. The lad needs games.

Maybe he thinks that the old pros have broad enough shoulders to come back from a mistake but that it would crush a youngster? Maybe he's punishing Vellios for having a 'bad attitude' or some misdemeanour that we're not aware of? He's supposedly told Duffy that he's very close to the first team and that's why he's not gone out on loan but, in the event of an injury to Jagielka or Distin, Heitinga will always get the call first. It's very rare for us to have two centrebacks out (like we did last season) and we could always call Shane back from a loan if we needed him, so I don't really understand the logic. And then there is Barkley. In what position will he break into the team? He's never going to displace Fellaini, Mirallas or Osman, so he'll have to wait for them to get injured, be sold or retire to get his chance by the looks of it.

I read somewhere late last year that one English newspaper referred to Everton as the EPL's most "likeable" club. can we get a trophy for that please?
