Spurs

I said it for years, Tottenham really are the great pretenders of English football. Lots of hype, lots of media coverage, lots of predictions from their fans that they are going to do this and that but what do they actually deliver?

In my time as a football fan we've won more trophies than them.

When are we going to talk about the fact that Mourinho has made them worse?

Yep, he's swapped the high intensity attacking football for slow defensive counter attacking football but he cant even get that right.

Son, Kane, Bale, Dembele etc and thats what they serve up. At least you can understand Burnley/West Brom etc doing it as they dont have enough quality. Spurs have no excuse. Liverpool had a CM out there at CB alongside a fella who's about 60% fit, then some 4th division 6th choice fella and Spurs didnt get near them.

Thats all on Mourinho and his set up/mentality

The kneejerk calls were the ones that thought they could actually challenge for the title. Been saying since the opening day that top 4 would be a fantastic season for them. I don’t think they’re going to get it.

I'd be very surprised after seeing them tonight and against Fulham mate. Eric Dier, wow, that's an odd horse for Mourinho to die on.

We know it implodes with him too. Was lucky not too last season. I'll be eagerly watching what happens next.

They’re a direct rival for a European spot which is huge for or us this season and going forward. They’ve bought poorly recently and don’t have any young players coming through, they’re also weak financially due to their stadium. If they have a mini collapse on the back of a Kane injury then missing out on Europe could be and for them long term as Levi cannot bank roll a rebuild unless they sell Kane or Son.

I just want us to show our quality in the cup game and move onto the quarter final. We’re at home, it will be a difficult game but when you see Spurs playing like that there’s no reason we can’t beat them if Kane is out.

Yes agree with all of that. The days of us being the nice guys has gone. After what Son did, if Kane is injured, great as you say they are a rival. Never like seeing Liverpool win, but a win where Kane, Matip, Fabinho, potentially Milner & the right winger for Spurs get injured, that's a bonus.

I think Ancelotti is getting a different mentality into the players. One where the should turn up and expect to win. We have had to find solutions without DCL/James/Richarlinson/Digne at times all at once and looked better than they did tonight when Kane went off. A bit like Aubameyang at Arsenal (and to a degree Lukaku when he was here) I think he kept their heads above the parapet. It has all the ingredients of a Spurs meltdown this, and for the short, medium and long term that will suit us down to the ground.

Was going to comment but you’ve took the words out my mouth.

Spurs are more of a rival than Liverpool for us in Europe, so them not getting points is massive for us.

Said this on twitter but will so apologies for repetition. But that 1st goal, if that's Mee or Tarkowski, they just volley it away. Rodon makes an identical mistake.

That's a real problem when you set up to play like Burnley, but you just dont do it very well. I've never known anything as daft as letting balls go, in your own 6 yard box when you know theres an attacker behind.

Wonder how long Kane is out for...

Matip done his ligaments and Kane to miss our cup tie.

That Chelsea game on 5th Feb will be interesting...
