Village Goose Killed In Drive-By Shooting
The bird was paddling along when a gunman in a 4x4 allegedly opened fire as the vehicle was driven through a quiet village.

The goose chaperoned ducklings across the road.
Residents in a small village have been expressing their shock and sadness after a popular goose was reportedly shot dead in a pond.
The bird was paddling along when a gunman in a 4x4 allegedly opened fire as the vehicle was driven through Sandon in Hertfordshire on Sunday afternoon.
The window of the passenger seat was wound down and then one of the two people inside is understood to have shot the creature in the head.
The goose used to sometimes go in a phone box.
Residents then removed the bird, simply called 'Goose', from the pond before being buried.
Gay Ayton, who lives in the village, described the bird as a "character" which used to chaperone ducklings around the roads to keep them safe.
She told Sky News he was hand-reared by locals as a gosling, and she joked he thought he was a duck as he "used to stand in the middle of the road while ducklings crossed over".
She said he was popular in the village, despite becoming aggressive during mating season, where he was known to prevent people from putting letters in a postbox.
Tributes have been left in the phone box.
She added: "Everyone knew him, the kids loved him."
He also "kept the foxes away", she said.
Flowers and messages of tribute have been left in a disused phone box - next to the pond - where the bird used to sometimes go.
He even featured on the village's welcoming sign which was made to celebrate the new millennium.
Ms Ayton said there was shock, sadness and anger in Sandon, where people were "tearful" and "had lumps in their throats".
She said: "Why do people do mindless things".
The bird featured on a sign in the village.
Ms Ayton hoped the publicity would shame the perpetrators to hand themselves in but she "doubts they will own up".
She said police have now dug up the bird's body to establish the exact cause of death.
Hertfordshire Police said to Sky News: "We received a third-party report of the incident on Sunday afternoon at around 4.30pm
"The RSPCA are currently investigating the incident (as they are empowered to do so under the Countryside and Wildlife Act) but we are assisting them with this.
"At this stage we are unable to confirm how the goose died. We have no evidence to suggest it was shot, although there are rumours about this.
"We will be speaking with local residents to try and establish if there are any witnesses because at the moment we only have third-party reports.
"To confirm how the goose died we need to examine the body - the Royal Veterinary College would be used - and carry out a post mortem. Unfortunately, prior to officers attending the body had been removed and buried.
"We now have information suggesting where the goose is and this is currently being followed-up by officers.
"If the body is examined and it can be confirmed the bird was shot this would of course be investigated (again jointly by police and RSPCA).
"If a person is found responsible we'd look at interviewing them jointly with the RSPCA. The evidence would then be considered as to whether the RSPCA or police would prosecute."

‘BLASPHEMOUS’ BRAZILIAN ARTIST UNDER FIRE FOR TURNING RELIGIOUS FIGURES INTO POP CULTURE ICONS

Brazilian artist, Ana Smile, has created a bit of controversy with her company Santa Blasphemy, which creates plaster religious statues painted in the form of pop-culture icons such as Batman, Frida Kahlo, Catwoman, Captain Hopper, The Joker, and Minnie Mouse.
Reportedly, angry emails from offended Catholics have been sent petitioning the local government to do something about the “blasphemous” paint jobs, but the government has not attempted to intervene. Since then, the artist has been bombarded with outraged Facebook and Instagram messages.
The artist has stated (via the magic of Google Translate):
So it frustrates me so much this whole brouhaha in recent days. The pieces were created as decorative items. It has nothing to do with religion.
Continuing, Smile indicated that she is not dissuaded by the outrage, and will continue her work:
I’m so bogged down from people interested in buying and know the work positively that the last thing I’ll do is read this petition.
Here are some of Smile’s “blasphemies”:

A force helicopter was used to try and track down the spooked animal which evaded her pursuers by running across busy roads
A helicopter was used to try and track down the spooked animal which evaded her pursuers by running through orchards and across roads.
The California Highway Patrol said he received a 911 call from a confused driver on Wednesday afternoon about the unusual animal weaving through cars in the Madera Ranchos area of the state.
Officer Justin Perry told KMPH-TV: "We got a call of a unicorn running in the roadway on 12th Ave. near Road 32.
"I've been doing this for 14 years and this is my first call for a unicorn."
The "unicorn" was actually Juliet, a pony belonging to Sandra Boos, who dresses her up for children's parties.
She had escaped during a photo shoot with the horn and pink halter still attached to her head, UPI reported.
Sandra said: "I'm a photographer here in the Fresno area and a lot of little girls have had their dreams come true taking pictures with Juliet the unicorn.
"She threw her head up ... [and] ran off and the more we pursued her the further she ran."
Her son Tatum, five, was devastated when the animal went missing.
He told KLPCTV : "She got afraid and then she pulled it out of the guy's hand and then she runned away.
"I was afraid, and then we had to catch her in the dark."
The pony led residents and police on a three-hour chase that at one point involved the CHP's H40 helicopter using heat-seeking FLIR radar to track Juliet.
A local with a horse helped police lure Juliet into a trailer.
Renee Pardy, who finally helped tame the beast, said the escaped pony had only been looking for a friend and found one in the other horse.
Sandra added: "I was standing with the CHP at the time and a call came over the radio that said the unicorn is in custody, and there was a huge sigh of relief, a few tears, and some laughter. It was the comedic relief needed in the moment."
